Highlight of the charter season: LOT's Dreamliner painted in "Independence" color visited SGN for the first time ever!

Under the beautiful spring morning of February, the sky at Ho Chi Minh City welcomed a superstar on the catwalk show, it's a LOT Boeing 787-9 from their seasonal charter services. But today, it's a total difference. This airframe was painted in "Dumni Z Niepodległości Polski" or "Proud of Poland's Independence" livery to celebrate their 100th anniversary of Poland's independence day. This livery features the shape of Poland at the front of the fuselage, then two stripes of color white and red, symbolling for the Polish flag stretches along the fuselage and ends with the title of the special colors, written in Polish on the right and English on the left side of the aircraft. This arrival has attracted a lot of aviation enthusiasts at SGN to come and see her, and some of our photographers has been able to capture it beautifully.

What a way to start a week: Atlas Air sent their Boeing 747-8F to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time!

Yesterday was another day that the spotting location got packed with spotters and aviation enthusiasts, as well as some of our members. All of the attention were drawn into the 747, and the moment it touches down, it marked some new milestone. The first one is as mentioned above, the second one is Atlas Air becomes the 4th airline to operate B748 to Ho Chi Minh City after Korean Air Cargo, Cargolux and UPS. This flight also commenced the first weekly service of Atlas Air connecting Riyadh and Baku with Ho Chi Minh City.

Highlight of the week: Vietjet's first COMAC aircraft landed at Tan Son Nhat airport!

Yesterday at about 02:10PM, a Comac C909 (old name was ARJ21-700) sporting a hybrid livery between the main carrier (Chengdu Airlines) and the airline that leased the aircraft (Vietjet Air) landed at Ho Chi Minh City after a short hop from Con Dao airport, marking the third appearance of Comac C909 in VVTS. The airframe also wears a special scheme featuring lucuma flowers and the number 75 to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China.

A New Year gift from Taiwan for spotters: Starlux operated the largest aircraft in their fleet - Airbus A350 to Ho Chi Minh City for the first time ever!

Today at about 10:30AM, The Airbus A350 of Starlux touched down at Tan Son Nhat international airport, marking the return of the widebodies in Starlux fleet at VVTS after over a year and also the latest destination of the largest aircraft in the airline's fleet. Prior flying to SGN, Starlux's A350 fleet has operated flights connecting Taiwan with Singapore, Japan and flights to multiple cities in the USA.

A special treat for gamers and spotters: "Persona 5 Royal" made its very first visit to Ho Chi Minh City in daytime!

Recently in November, AirAsia has just unveiled their latest special scheme on one of their A320s, featuring a video game developed by Atlus, Persona 5. After a few nighttime visits to here, the "Persona 5 Royal jet" has finally treated the spotters nicely with a visit in daylight!

Another interesting sight to see: a rare kind of small props spotted in the Northern area of Vietnam!

ATEC v.o.s - a Czechs manufacturer of the ultralight and light sports aircraft, was established in 1992. In 1996, their first aircraft, the 122 Zephyr, was produced. Since then, the company has extended their product range with many more aircraft types. ATEC’s planes are one of the most popular choices in flight schools and sports aviation thanks to their effective operation.

The ATEC 321 Faeta NG is the next-generation of the original ATEC 321 Faeta, an ultralight aircraft produced by ATEC. The NG version of Faeta has many advancements, with the most noticeable one is in the tailplanes. While the original has the T-Tail design, this next-gen’s tailplanes are designed in the classical cross-shaped. The development took 2 years, completed in 2016 and was aimed at improving the flight performance and offering more comfortable flights to pilots and passengers.

If you are an aviation enthusiasts and intend to go to Cat Bi international airport, do not miss out a chance to capture these small props! There are many kinds of them, not only the one mentioned in this post, flying around there and waiting for your discovery!

A rare arrival: IL96-400T variant visited Vietnam for the first time ever!

At about 6:20AM this morning, SGN welcomed another exotic metal bird, but this one was the most special of all. As this bigger variant of the IL96 hasn't paid a visit to Ho Chi Minh city before, making it becomes attractive and fascinating in the bird hunters' eyes.

Talking about the operator, Sky Gates airlines is a Russian cargo and passenger charter carrier based in two different airports in Moscow: Sheremetyevo [SVO/UUEE] and Zhukovsky [ZIA/UUBW] international airport. In the beginning, Sky Gates operated a fleet of two Boeing 747-400Fs in October 2016. However, in February 2022, sanction problems has forced the company to temporarily suspend operations, one month later, Silk Way West Airlines has taken over both of their 747s. In August 2023, Red Wings bought Sky Gates, and they restarted operations in the last month of the same year. Currently, the airline has 1 IL76TD and 1 IL96-400T in their fleet.

A documentary catch: Omni Air International returned to SGN after 4 years!

Yesterday, our team were blessed with a lot of cool planes, from the small military aircrafts to the rare arrival of this Boeing 767. Talking about the operator, Omni Air International (OAI) is a charter career based in Oklahoma, the United States. The airline specializes in passenger charter services, aircraft leasing (including Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) wet-leasing). Besides, "Omni-Express" is also a member of the Civil Reserve Air fleet (CRAF) as a long range international career.

Despite the poor weather condition, our members still managed to have a good shot of this old workhorse, especially when the 767-200 passenger variant is becoming more and more difficult to be captured nowadays.
