Presentations in Medschool is nerve wracking but it's honestly one of my best things to do.

In the last 3 months , asides the gigantic academic workload to read, I've been making PowerPoint presentations and presenting to my colleagues and Professors.

The good part is, this means year 4 is coming to an end. Yaay🥳🥳

This dates back to Saturday, 28th September,2024 but the message always dates “TODAY”

The rising wave of suicide especially amongst young people has become a critical global crisis. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that over 720,000 people lose their lives to suicide each year, making it the third leading cause of death for those aged 15-29. That’s an alarming 2,000 lives lost every day, with 73% of these tragedies occurring in low- and middle-income countries.

Key Factors Driving Suicide includes:

1.Mental Health Disorders: Conditions like depression and anxiety weigh heavily on young minds, often pushing them toward suicidal behavior.

2.Social and Environmental Pressures:Facing conflict, disaster, violence, abuse, loss, or even isolation significantly heightens the risk of suicide.

3.Stigma and Silence: The deep-rooted stigma around mental health and suicide traps many in silence, preventing them from reaching out for the help they desperately need.

This combination of mental, social, and cultural challenges underscores the urgent need for global action to support vulnerable youth and that is why, today I am here to remind you that YOU MATTER and the world needs you alive. On Tuesday, the 24th of this month, The Five Star Visionaries—a team I am proud to be a part of—partnered with LEAP Africa to bring our change initiative, Project EcoClean, to life. This project aims to tackle the widespread issue of indiscriminate waste disposal by educating the community and providing essential resources, such as waste bins, to three primary and secondary schools in Samaru, Zaria. Who better to lead the way than the children, the foundation of a better future?

After two months of careful planning and brainstorming, I’m thrilled to say that our project was a resounding success. We visited three schools, held engaging, interactive sessions with the students, donated waste bins to every classroom, rewarded our most active participants with gifts, and distributed pamphlets to raise awareness in the surrounding community.

A heartfelt thank you to @leapafrica for this incredible opportunity to give back to society and a big thank you to my amazing team members (the best people). It has truly been a an honor. As the famous Gandhi once said,
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
