Chiang Mai might be our new favorite city - chill, beautiful, plenty to do, and the best massage and Pad Thai we had!

We stayed in Nimman which was perfect, wandered out to Old Chiang Mai and took a tour to the White and Blue Temples, Lalitta Cafe where we had a bizarre passionfruit coffee, and Central Festival, along with a couple more Michelin star dinners.

Lots more to see we couldn’t get to, so definitely coming back and staying more than 3 days!

My first time in Bangkok and Jill’s first in decades was an amazing trip! Hot and humid, but we got lucky and no rain.

Visited the Grand Palace, Reclining Buddha, a coconut farm, Damnoen floating market, Mae Klong railway market, IconSiam, centralwOrld and more. Amazing food including a Michelin star dinner at Nara Thai, incredible Thai iced tea, endless snacks, and the PopMart cafe. Skipped the bugs though, maybe next time 😂

Long Beach is so much nicer than it used to be! Fun evening of exploring, eating and shopping with @jillwsweet until @whatsupnobu threw up in the Nike store and then passed out on in the car. taken in Long Beach, California by @the_benstagram

Never ran a full 5k before so figured a half marathon would be fun!

Despite not being able to move right now, the Rock n Roll Half was a blast, covering the entire Las Vegas Strip at night with 35k other idiots who paid for this nonsense.

Thanks for the company @lisaliumusic! Maybe a 10k next time instead 😂

Nature is good for the soul! 🤘🏻

Stoked to get dirty again after my 2nd ablation and 10 weeks of restricted activity in the garage.

Always fun getting together with old friends, in this case, I’ve known @cjrsickgirl longer than anyone, since I was ~4!

@whatsupnobu and Lando got along well too, although they were probably just focused on the chance some yummy chicken would wind up in front of them 😂 taken in The Crack Shack by @the_benstagram

Tour of Taiwan Days 4-6 🇹🇼 Had to get home quickly so it was a solo TT south around the mountains and up the east coast.

Tainan to Taitung was a brutal 140mi/225km Christmas adventure, starting with 3 hrs of scooters and trucks thru Kaoshiung morning rush hour, and ending with 7 hrs of the worst head/crosswinds I’ve ever been through, surviving steep pitches riding the white line trying to not get blown into trucks on the left or into a 4’ deep concrete ditch on the right. Hallucinating by the time I rolled into Taitung after nearly 14 hrs. It was my 2nd longest ride ever by time (The Rift Iceland was longer by 4 min) and 5th longest by distance 😵

Day 5 from Taitung to Hualien was windy but not as miserable, but everything hurt and I couldn’t sit or hold the bars comfortably. So plenty of stops for food, photos, watching the waves, and avoiding more sitting. Managed to find one of the coolest @starbuckstw ever in Hualien! And the Dongdamen Night Market is amazing 😋

Day 6 was supposed to be another epic 140mi/225km with 8kft/2500m of climbing but no way I was going to survive that and finish in Taipei descending in the dark and rain. So went to explore the legendary Taroko Gorge instead and then took the train back to Taipei. Much more relaxing and fun 🙌🏻

Final Tour tally:
600mi/965km
27kft/8300m climbing
43 hrs ride time, 17 into headwinds
24k calories burned
2009 TSS 🤪

Festive500 done on day 3!

Setup:
@3tbike Exploro RaceMax
@zippspeed 303S with Veloflex Costa EVO 32mm
@apidura top tube, frame and saddle packs
Plenty of @nuunhydration
And way too many stops at 7-11 and FamilyMart 😂

Would love to do this again, but definitely over 8-10 days with a small group so it’s more enjoyable than time trial training. Anyone want to do this in a few years? Let me know!

Checking another adventure off my bucket list this year, a Tour of Taiwan by bike! 🇹🇼

Days 1-3 were with @docompromise from @raphaseoul from Taipei to Taichung to Chiayi to Tainan. CraY winds on the first day but lucky with no rain and plenty of sunshine inland and down the west coast.

Great food, beautiful roads, incredible bike trails, amazing scenery, great hotels, little traffic for the most part, friendly people. A wonderful memorable few days.
