Die meisten von uns haben nach Band 1 direkt Band 2 und 3 verschlungen und Band 4 und 5 schon vorbestellt.
Kein wirklicher Verity-Vergleich für uns, aber ein super spannender, leicht zu lesender Thriller. 4/5 ⭐️

Most of us went straight from book 1 to books 2 and 3 and already preordered books 4 and 5.
Not really a Verity comparison for us, but such a fun, fast-paced and easy thriller to read. 4/5 ⭐️ by @the_bookbuffet_

„Mama, bitte lern Deutsch“ von Tahsim Durgun beschreibt ein Gefühl, das viele Secondos kennen: Man möchte dazugehören, wird aber immer wieder daran erinnert, dass man anders aussieht, anders glaubt oder einfach als anders wahrgenommen wird.

Zwischen zwei Welten aufgewachsen, soll man die Heimat der Eltern bewahren und gleichzeitig perfekt in die neue Gesellschaft passen. Man übersetzt, übernimmt Verantwortung und wird viel zu früh erwachsen, während man doch eigentlich noch Kind sein sollte.

Das Buch zeigt beide Seiten: die Opfer, die Eltern für ihre Kinder bringen, aber auch all das, was Kinder für ihre Eltern leisten. Ein leicht lesbares, aber emotional tiefgehendes Buch, das viele von uns genau dort abgeholt hat, wo es nötig war.

Unsere Gesamtbewertung : 4,5 - 5 von 5 Sternen. ⭐ Ein absolutes Must-read – besonders auch für Menschen ohne eigene Migrationserfahrung.

Our book this month was The Palace of Illusions and only 2 out of many finished it. 📚😅

Life got busy, school schedules took over, and for many of us, the book had to wait. The two who made it to the end absolutely loved it, rating it 4.5–5⭐. The rest agreed it was beautifully written but not necessarily a book they’d recommend to everyone. A book that definitely sparked mixed opinions and great conversations. The main thing about this book is, its a POV of the female main character, which is not very well known in a south asian community! Bt can we see too many 🚩? Sadly yes… bt how ever the Mahabaratham is not for silly nerves ❤️‍🩹

One thing we all agreed on? The food at @tikkaswiss !!
If you’re ever in Fribourg, it’s well worth a visit for delicious South and North Indian food. They even have a private room that’s perfect for book clubs and other gatherings! Go check that out! Thank you for having us 💕 by @the_bookbuffet_

Everyone got to choose their own book, read it during April, and then in May we all present our books separately 👩‍🏫

Saturday night was our first evening book club meet, and it truly set the tone for what we love about this space. We started at @remise.rosa with a relaxed vibe, good drinks, and perfect weather on our side. We also celebrated World Book Day and Roses Day (a little late, but still special) with a small book exchange, which made the whole evening feel even more meaningful. 📕 🌹

After that, we went to @aiyaswiss at Langstrasse, and honestly, it was one of those places that are small but just WOW. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the food was amazing, and the drinks—especially the spicy one—were definitely a highlight. The owner and his wife made us feel so welcome, and the overall vibe was just right. Big shoutout to Aiya for the lovely hospitality.

Our March book was Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney, and let’s just say we had mixed opinions. Some of us enjoyed the beginning, while others found it a bit slow, and most agreed that the middle dragged a little. But the ending completely changed things—plot twist after plot twist, in a way none of us really expected. It was intense and surprising, maybe even a bit too much at once, but definitely memorable and perfect for discussion.

DIE EHEFRAU nur zwischen zwei andere Bücher eingeschoben, um Zeit zu schinden und trotzdem in 2–3 Tagen durch. #easytoread

Kurze, einfache Story mit leichten Verity & Housemaid Vibes 👀, aber kommt für mich nicht ganz ran.
Trotzdem spannend, vor allem durch den besonderen Anfang (und Ende – kein Spoiler).
Für mich 3–3,5/5 ⭐️

February Book Club Recap 📚

We read #WomenDown by #colleenhooverbooks and honestly, it wasn’t as bad as we expected! It was an easy, simple read (even at 400+ pages), with some interesting glimpses. While it didn’t have a super strong storyline, it still kept us engaged enough.

Our final rating: ⭐️ 2.5/5 — a fair middle ground from everyone’s scores!

Now, we’re officially taking a little break from Colleen Hoover and moving on to our March pick 👀
