My newest glaze OBSESSION, and a testament to why testing and experimentation is vital for growth. My first attempt with Mayco’s Opalescent left we with a disappointing “poopy brown” but instead of trashing it I said “what if I layer another glaze on top” and voila! A stunning gradient a blues, greens and amber to create so much light and depth to this otherwise simple bowl form.

When I say “carved by hand” I really mean each little notch is meticulously carved by my hands.

I so desperately want to show you pretty glazed pottery photos! But alas, everything is still in progress so a few studio shots will have to suffice. Peep the second photos of just HALF of the magnets I have made for Capitola Art and Wine next weekend!

Top Tip #3! Display, Display, Display.

How you present your work is one of, if not THE most, crucial way to communicate with the consumer. You can’t properly show your work or start a conversation to explain your product if you can’t even get someone to walk over to your booth right? So take time to build your aesthetic, invest in display pieces and signage, and study what’s working and what’s not.

I spent my first few years at markets studying other booths and why some were busy and some were not and started applying my observations to my own booth. I’m not saying directly copy but find your aesthetic niche and invest. It will be worth it.
