I’ve been slowly adding to this 40” roundie for a couple months now, and have finally finished it. It’s definitely a weird piece, and reminds me of the variability and texture of coral reefs 🦠(especially the sea anemone half Pom poms). I’ve tried making more orderly weavings but it never seems to work, I guess I am just made for chaos. 🌀 What does it remind you of? by @the_craftographer

Thank you for all the love on my last post. Here is an image of the whole roundie. I almost worry that the zoomed image looks better than the whole piece. On the other hand I love how asymmetrical and chaotic it is. 🐙🌊 by @the_craftographer

Hey everyone! It’s been a while. I’ve been taking a bit of time off weaving to do a bunch of knitting recently, but wanted to get on here a tell you that tomorrow is the last day of my art show at @bluebirdskyyoga ! If you’ve been waiting on a piece, my art isn’t going to available again for a long while. This piece is still available (link is in my bio!), and I hope you’re interested in a bit of knitting content because I have that coming your way soon! by @the_craftographer

Thinking about the people of Texas today. People are suffering and now dealing with a natural disaster on top of a pandemic.

A former Texas mayor said that Texans should fend for themselves, this is not a time to be suggesting self-reliance.

People need help in times like these. And not everyone can nor should be expected to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps”. What an outdated concept.

If you’re able, please consider donating to a Texas mutual aid fund. @austinmutualaid and @feedthepeopledallas are a couple of options. by @the_craftographer

Doing a “this or that” poll on a bunch of weaving was really interesting recently.

I think my key takeaway was that people maybe don’t like the color rust/terracotta as much as I do. 💡

And while I don’t see myself gravitating away from rust anytime soon, I’m always trying and getting inspired by new color combinations.

What are some colors that you’d love to see together or ones you just can’t get enough of? 🌈 by @the_craftographer

I love all the small businesses I get to support with my yarn purchases. 🧶 If you want to see some of the many places I buy my yarn, tap on the first image. And if you really love this weaving, it’s for sale, the link is in my bio. 🌱 by @the_craftographer

While making this piece I’ve been thinking about coral bleaching a lot, especially the Great Barrier Reef.

In April 2020 the Great Barrier Reef suffered a third mass bleaching event in five years, and the most widespread bleaching on record. ⚪️

When waters get too warm corals expel the algae that live within, which causes the coral to turn completely white. 🌊

While coral can survive bleaching events, they do become more vulnerable to death. In 2016, more than half of severely bleached coral in the northern area died.

At least a quarter of the world’s marine life needs coral reefs for a part of their life cycle. 🐠🐡

Anthropogenic climate change will make our oceans warmer and create more frequent bleaching events. 🔥🌏 by @the_craftographer

I made this piece a year ago and it is still one of my favorite weavings I’ve ever made. I am not the kind of person to plan out a piece, and this is a time where I just added a little day by day 🌞🌑 and color by color, and it came out beautifully. It was also the first time I thought and tried to make those little Pom bursts 💥that are now on a lot of my round weavings. I love this kind of play and experimentation, and want to continue to do that rather than get stuck in any one style. 🌀 by @the_craftographer

It’s been a while, hadn’t wanted to post or make anything, but the urge is coming back, finally! 💡 I started this @sarahkbenning piece more than a year ago, I remember starting to work on it last thanksgiving, and damn has a lot changed since then. I’ve also finally started weaving a bit again, and have restarted working on this really time intensive vine inspired piece that’s been on my loom for months and months. Photos of that to come soon! 🌿 by @the_craftographer

🌵𝓢𝓾𝓬𝓬𝓾𝓵𝓮𝓷𝓽 𝓰𝓪𝓻𝓭𝓮𝓷 🌵

I gotta be honest, this image has been sitting on my computer for almost two months, in this season I haven’t had the will or want to do anything related to weaving. It sucks when a thing you love holds no interest anymore. But today I’m pushing myself a little and tomorrow maybe a little more. 🌦 by @the_craftographer
