Looking for gigantic rainbow cotton candy, bigger than your head? Then look no further than Totti Candy Factory in Tokyo. Each colour is a different flavour. This is hands-down the best candy floss I have ever eaten.

You’ll know this fluffy, sugary treat as cotton candy, and in Japan it’s called wata-ame (わたあめ) or wata-gashi (綿菓子), both of which also mean cotton candy. When I realised that huge, rainbow fairy floss was readily available in Tokyo’s iconic suburb of Harajuku, I had to try it. Harajuku is famous for its youth culture and over-the-top fashion, and I can’t imagine a more perfect place to find (and devour) giant, rainbow cotton candy than Harajuku!

While Totti Candy Factory (トッティキャンディファクトリー) is famous for giant, colourful cotton candy, it also sells kawaii candy (cute lollies) and cake pops. Highly recommended this place.

Singapore Chili Crab 🦀
If you are looking for the most typical & enjoyable dish in Chennai, it is hard to look past chilli crabs. Close your eyes & imagine crabs coated with tomato based spicy sauce & richly layered with egg. That's chilli crab for you. This dish is accompanied by steam or deep fried buns (also known as mantou).

The thing that defines the style & tastes for chilli crab at a seafood restaurant must be the chilli sauce. No doubt, the chilli sauce of Kai lives up to its reputation - a classic version which is thick, sweet & slightly spicy.
Its spiciness level is at the lowest one, so it might be just nice for Western palates. The gravy is an impeccable combination of spiciness, sweetness & saltiness complementing perfectly with mantou. And how is the crab? It's juicy & fresh. It will have you delightedly slurping crab meat from its shells & licking your fingers.

Scrambled eggs & avocado sandwich at Eggslut!!
As you can infer from its name, Eggslut is all about the humble eggs, but taken to new heights in a series of speciality breakfast sandwiches, which it is famous for.

I went for the avocado sandwich with caramelised onions, cheddar cheese, creamy scrambled eggs and sriracha mayonnaise, all encased between golden brioche buns. This one is a must try for breakfast in Tokyo.

Walking down the streets of Tokyo, I spotted this small patisserie. It’s dainty & elegant. I tried two desserts and both so good. I’ve tried other French type deserts in Japan. There is no comparison with this patisserie. This beautiful strawberry Mille Feuille is perfect for a quick mid-week treat!

Japanese Shu Cream ⬇️

Shu cream is a Japanese dessert inspired by the famous French "choux cream." Although these decadent puffs are French in origin, they have become a Japanese culinary staple that kids of many generations have grown up eating. They are available everywhere from high-end patisseries to vending machines.

When small individual choux pastry puffs are baked, the interior becomes light and airy, and the exterior turns crisp and golden. The puff is then filled with a sweet custard filling. Before serving, the shu cream is gently dusted with confectioners' sugar.

Treat yourself to these fudgy chocolate brownies swirled with Biscoff cookie butter spread and topped with Lotus Biscoff biscuits. Ghee Pongal & Vada (v).

Pongal is a South-indian breakfast made with rice & yellow moong lentils. This porridge-like savory dish is laced with cumin, asafoetida & black pepper. Not to forget the lovely aroma of ghee, which is used for tempering these spices. The simplest version of pongal will have these spices as well curry leaves & ginger. There are many variations possible. At times grated coconut is also added. Black pepper is one of the key ingredients added in pongal. The black peppercorns are added whole & when you eat, you also bite into the black pepper. And finally the extra amount of ghee they add in the pongal makes a lot of difference. It was simply yum!
Vada - Crispy, hot & indulgent, these rings of savory goodness are hard to resist. Couldn't stop with just one.
All of this was served with their delicious sambar & a variety of chutneys (condiments).
