New Build Flooring: Builder’s Package or Sourcing Your Own?

One of the decisions you’ll face when buying a new-build home is whether to pay for your builder’s flooring package or arrange yourself after completion.

While choosing your builder’s offers convenience, it may not always give you the best value for money.

Sourcing your own flooring could mean more options and potential savings, but it comes with additional planning and coordination.

My advice?

Don’t automatically accept your builder’s quote.
Shop around, compare specifications and understand exactly what you’re paying for.

Sometimes, convenience is worth the extra cost. Other times, sourcing independently might be better.

Let’s bring personality back to our homes.

Interior design trends are a bit like a pendulum.

They swing.

For a while, everything was grey.

Then came the all-white homes.

Now, we are in the era of browns, beige and warm neutrals.

And social media can sometimes make it feel like this is the only way a beautiful home should look.

But trends change.

And more importantly, we do not all have the same taste.

Some people love colour.
Some love prints and florals.
Some love bold spaces.
Some love simple and neutral interiors.

That is the beauty of interior design.

Your home should reflect you and the way you live.

I personally love colourful spaces, and I enjoy encouraging my clients to explore colour too.

I think the design pendulum will keep moving, and we will start to see even more colour, earthy tones, pattern and personality coming back into our homes.

A beautiful home does not have to look like everyone else’s.

It just has to feel like yours.

Today is World Breastfeeding Day, and after going through the journey myself, I have one message:

Fed is best.

Before becoming a mum, I honestly thought breastfeeding was simply putting the baby to the breast.

Nobody really tells you about the sore nipples, the back pain, the dizziness after feeds, cluster feeding, or that your baby might decide your boobs are a pacifier… and occasionally just a toy.

Then there’s the surprise that milk doesn’t just flow like a tap in those first few days. And just when you think you’ve figured it out, your body decides to produce enough milk for the whole neighbourhood. 😂

That journey humbled me.

It made me realise that feeding a baby is not a competition.

It’s not a measure of how much you love your child.

And it’s certainly not something mums should be judged over.

I’m now even more empathetic when parents tell me they’re bottle-feeding.

Sometimes it’s a choice.
Sometimes it’s a necessity.

Either way, what matters most is that both baby and mum are thriving.

If you want to breastfeed, I genuinely encourage you to.
It can be a beautiful experience, and if you’re struggling, please ask for support because help is available.

But if, despite your best efforts, breastfeeding isn’t working,or you simply choose not to, please don’t carry guilt.

Feed your baby and look after yourself too.

If you’re using formula, choose one you can comfortably afford for the long term. Babies don’t always appreciate unexpected menu changes because the budget said so.

So today, here’s to every mum:
🤍 Breastfeeding.
🤍 Bottle-feeding.
🤍 Expressing.
🤍 Mixed feeding.

Today, I’m grateful for growth.

I launched my interior design business earlier this year, and within just three months, I was fully booked. It got to the point where I had to pause advertising so I wouldn’t take on more clients than I could give my best to.

I’m incredibly thankful to everyone who trusted me with their homes and their vision.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some of the spaces we transformed this year, starting with my very first client.
