My entry for the @khor_usa Best Bartender Challenge! 📸: @cocktail_lens Please vote by liking and commenting! The Suburban Socialite 1.5oz @khor_usa Platinum Vodka 1oz Ramazotti Rosato 0.75oz Nixta 0.75oz Lemon Juice 0.5oz Velvet Falernum Shake and double-strain into a chilled coupe glass. With my partner @kholowchik being Ukrainian, I felt this was the perfect opportunity for me to do my first ever cocktail competition! I wanted to play with the structure and look of a Cosmopolitan, being one of the most called-for vodka cocktails in the world. Khor is 100% distilled from corn, and corn playing a major role in any agricultural economy, I decided to showcase flavors and ingredients that would pull you away from the hustle and bustle of the big cosmopolitan cities. I used Nixta, a liqueur made with native cacahuazintle maize(corn) from Mexico, to highlight the corn used in making Khor. Ramazotti Rosato is a blood orange and hibiscus aperitif that evokes sweet grapefruit flavors - grapefruit juice being often found in pre-prohibition cocktails, and providing the beautiful pink hue that reminds you of the Cosmo. Velvet Falernum was chosen to add some depth and balance out the sweetness as well as being a product of agricultural estates in the Caribbean in the 1700s. Finally, lemon juice it was popularly used in pre-prohibition cocktails to bring balanced acidity. Take yourself far outside the Cosmopolitan areas and times, and make yourself a Suburban Socialite featuring @khor_usa Platinum Vodka! Please like and comment to vote for me! Cheers! by @the_jesselane
From last month.. Seeing these guys is always borderline a religious experience to me. They've only gotten better and more refined with time, but still have all the emotion and chaotic energy of 20+ years ago. Dal's vocals are truly ethereal. And the songs have taken on so much meaning throughout my adult life I'll always travel to see #theonlybandever and I treat every show like it'll be my last time seeing them Live music heals by @the_jesselane
I wanna make a movement to have Instagram be the way it used to... before stories...before monetized reels... a snapshot of something in your day... I need to get back to reading more - looking down at my fitbit today while reading, my heart rate was one of the lowest I've seen in a long time. Plus the mental escape, the learning of new words and turns of phrases, the build up and anticipation that you dont get in visual media, having to use your imagination to visualize the world the author is painting.. there's nothing better. And ive got a massive soft spot for old sci-fi Recently slogged through the one on the right, and blew through the one on the left. One is by a behemoth in sci-fi, another was a random pick based on cover art and back page synopsis. The difference is staggering. Outdated language that wouldn't fly in the 60s let alone the 80s when it was published and a convoluted storyline that I struggled to comprehend even halfway through, or immersive world-building with vivid background laid out 3 pages into a 43 page short story... I'm a completionist.. I refuse to not finish what I start, but the comparison between a well-written story and a poor one is stark and dramatic and that's what makes reading fun and unique. Seeing each author lay out their methodology of story-telling, of how granular they want to get or broad... Read more books by @the_jesselane
Mother of God..... Don't dare try and order a Large Farva - those wacky Highway Boys are at it again! Celebrating the release of Super Troopers 3, Sam and Jesse are throwing it WAY back and making drinks based on the place they love with the mozzarella sticks and all the goofy shit on the walls... Monday 8.17 all the shenanigans from 6-10pm!! As always, no reservations, and whatever you do, don't worry about that lil guy.... by @the_jesselane
40!! Whoa... 40 Never could've imagined 40. Never thought I'd be where I'm at right now when I was 10, 20, hell even at 35 I could not picture what 40 would look or feel like. I'm in both better and worse shape than I was at 25. Less grey hair than I thought I'd have, but more acne/skin irritation More hair than I expected to have, and far less wrinkles I've made more mistakes than I'd like to admit, and spent far too long in anxious thought over making the right decisions. But I've experienced more and seen more of this world than I thought I would, realized how immense and small this world is at the same time, had more truly beautiful moments to look back on, gained people who would change my outlook on life and experienced loss from small to agonizingly large. Every little decision, interaction, word spoken, had lead me to here and I wouldn't change a single thing. Here's to hopefully 40 more, with even more awe and beauty and wonder and life. Stop wishing for yesterday by @the_jesselane

July 6, 2024 @theused - A Box Full of Sharp Objects ft Brendan of @counterpartsband at @bornxraisedon Born and Raised 2024 It was unbelievably rad as fuck to see Brendan guest on this song live.. one of the first songs I remember trying to scream to in my '84 Cutlass, and definitely making myself almost puke cause I didn't (and still don't) know how to scream. He himself even said that Bert was his screaming inspiration. Over 20 years later finally seeing The Used was a wild nostalgic trip for sure (even if this surprise from Brendan was the best part of the set) by @the_jesselane
