Re-introducing
J. A Abbey, Esq.
LL. B (First Class), BL (Second class upper)
Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria!!
God is so good!

From being someone who just wanted to study anything and be good at it, to entering the legal profession and blazing the trail. I can say my story is specifically masterminded by God!

Thus this milestone is first and foremost dedicated to God Almighty, whose faithfulness has written every chapter of my story more beautifully than I could ever imagine.

I also dedicate this achievement to the precious memory of my sweetest aunt, Madam Kunomaa Ezekiel Douglas. Though you are no longer here to witness this day, your love, generosity and unwavering support remain woven into this journey. Your impact lives on, and I pray that this milestone honours your memory.

To my incredible parents, Mr. Awobelem Abbey & Mrs. Ibiso Abbey - thank you for choosing courage every single day. Thank you for believing in me long before the world had any reason to. Every sacrifice, every prayer, every encouraging word and every act of love has brought me to this moment. This victory is yours as much as it is mine.

To my family, mentors, lecturers, friends, colleagues, my church family, and everyone who prayed for me, encouraged me, corrected me, celebrated me and stood by me—you have all become part of this story. Thank you for helping shape the woman and lawyer I am becoming.

As I begin this new chapter, I do so with deep humility and an even deeper sense of responsibility. taken in Abuja, Nigeria by @the_joyabbey

Diving into passions beyond law, soaking up new experiences, and leveling up every step of the way.
Here’s to learning, venturing, and becoming.

P/S: Turns out the world of events is just as thrilling as the courtroom

📝 9 HARD REALITIES AS A GRADUATE
1) Learning/reading doesn't stop after school. Always stay a student.
2) Cherish every moment spent with friends and family, before reality calls and each must answer the pull of their own purpose. Not all friends walk the same path.
3) If you have never written down your plans/vision before, you need to. You have to make your own routine now.
4) Feeling scared and uncertain is normal. Carry on nevertheless.
5) If you have never had a mentor/guide, its necessary.
6) You don't wish for success, you push for it. Come out of your shell. Meet people. Talk to people. Online/offline.
7) You won't always figure it out before you start. You learn as you go.
8) Good grade is good but not enough.
9) Personal development is personal

Before I forget that I am now SARSU😅.
On the 14th of June 2024, I was conferred the position of one of the senior advocates of Rivers State University by the prestigious Student Judicial Council of the Student Union Government in which my Lordship, Hon. Chief Justice M.F Ogoloma Chairs. On this special day, I pledged amongst other things to not only ensure Justice but to see to it that the students are conscious of the workings of the judiciary in school. This has its root in the case of _"Obakimi V Adedeyin_ (2008) 3 NWLR (pt 1073)" where the court held that _"Justice must not only be done but be seen to be done"._
This was an overwhelming day for me, but I also came into a conscious realization of my advancement in the legal profession as this position, howbeit a privilege is also saddled with responsibilities.

I am currently on my sit recalling the past years of my journey in pursuit of my LL.B degree and I can only say; "SO FAR, SO GOD!"

As a law student of Rivers state university, my personality development shall focus on enhancing and grooming my outer and inner self to bring about positive change in my life. My learning experience in RSU will polish my persona, including boosting my confidence, improving my communication and language speaking ability, widening the scope of my knowledge, learning fine etiquette and manner as well as adding style and grace to the way I look, the way I talk, and the way I walk. So help me God. Amen.
