Photocredit: Shreesha Bhat What’s happening with DSLR’s - @holgerpooten gives a good feedback on his thoughts on what’s happening with DSLR’s. We get asked a lot on our @liopschool courses what camera to buy and whether or not to buy a DSLR and it came up on one of our surgeries @the_kropp so here’s our reply! Wishing you all a very happy and fruitful day! by @the_kropp

What is a commercial brief? Usually is a pdf that the client or advertising agency would send to you and describe and define the photoshoot/ model/ detail about the location and the look and feel. It gives you an idea of what the photoshoot will look like so you can give an estimate. Typically you would be pitching against 3-5 other photographers pitching against each other! by @the_kropp

Contracts are very important for us photographers. We need to define and have signed off how are the images delivered? When’s the payment due? How many images are you delivering? And of course if it is applicable to your line of photography - the usage rights
- location
- duration
- medium used

But also what happens if you are sick or a bad weather day? These are need to be included. For more conversation around this join us @the_kropp by @the_kropp

@holgerpooten from @liopschool and @the_kropp is going to run the next Masterclass on Thursday 15th December at 10am along with @debscastrow hosting it. He is going to discuss researching and how to catalog it in Lightroom so he can use it for mood boards and ideas for jobs. We are very interested to see Holger’s Process and get nosy!!! by @the_kropp

Did we get your attention?

We find this a really interesting topic and what Holger thinks, is that lifestyle photography is ruling the world.

This type of photography looks like real life but better, it is actually curated and this makes it very social media compatible.
It uses a documentary/street style but the production involves models, MUAs and lighting which is closer to a fashion shoot.

A lot of street photographers are getting commissioned this way by fashion labels.

In the end, it is important to be true to yourself and your time will come!
Don’t try and copy a cool style now if it’s not natural to you.
