Autumn shapes and colors in the Naches river valley. Lichen-covered andesite and a stumbling @oldmanfenton , blooming grey rabbitbrush, quivering stalks of strict buckwheat, and a little guy sticking his tongue out at you (aka elk vertebra).

Yakima Valley produces 75% of the nation’s hops, which makes this time of year extremely cool for people who love stanky fresh beer and enjoy gazing upon football fields of hop cones coming to perfect moisture content, and prefer that the region carry a general aroma of skunky hops. (It me)

Hang on, summer! The sun’s still high but nights have cooled. Chinook Pass is open for loops around Mt Rainier for just bit longer. Farmers still have stone fruit and sweet corn, but apple harvest is coming early.

Take a holiday before the seasons change: cabins are open around Labor Day and the last weekend of the month.

Of the many delights of our agricultural valley… U-Pick summer is tops! Blueberries by the bucketful at sweet and scenic @cowichecreek are close to the cabins and the Cowiche canyon, and they will keep two kindergarteners happy for a full hour 👼

Throughout the valley, u-pick cherries, apricots, and berries in the summertime, apples and pears in the fall. And pop by farm stands and @downtownyakimafarmersmarket for all else from our local growers.
