Round 2 for me as costume designer of the Inventure Production 2024 . A show aptly titled “Losing Ground” and boy is it relevant in the context of modern day society.

A lightning bolt of a journey made possible only with the support of some amazing kids their superhuman teachers and of course the guidance and direction of the inimitable @p.s.arati 💕 !

What can I say about the GRETA DRESS?!

While it’s been no less interesting putting the rest of the looks together, THIS dress is definitely going down in history for me. Too many firsts came with it and I cannot wait to see some very talented kids rock it on the stage this weekend!

I may well never learn to sit still in front of a camera.
But I did learn that working with children as a designer is truly where I was born to be.

Not my first freelance project but definitely my first wearing the proverbial “Hat” of a costume designer.
For a play with a message so important in these troubling times.

To say it has been easy would be a lie. It has challenged every part of me , to be better, to be faster, more patient, flexible and definitely chipped away at some of my rigidity as a professional. A place we all get to at some point in our career.

While we’re on the cusp of finishing this rollercoaster ride, I want to say thank you to the extraordinary talent and razor sharp professional that is @rattypunsun . I doff my “ hat”to you my friend .Theres been so much to learn from and it’s been an absolute pleasure to do this with you. ❤️

And to those lovely teachers who’ve been my strength throughout at @inventureacademy here’s to a spectacular “Production 2024” Nobody does it quite like you! 🙌🏼

Rebel mama advice in life and love on a slow Sunday🫠

My story so far is an unconventional one known only in full colour by the people I’m closest to.
While im going to save those details for a book one day (maybe a movie - lord knows it’s deserving of a deal 😂) , here’s some unconventional advice to my savage daughters from a survivor (of a few fates I might add).

•Always make sure you are a choice and not an afterthought.

•Love fully . And have boundaries that are absolutely not to be violated. But if it doesn’t work out, drop and roll. Hate is a waste of time and a corruptor of well-being.

•Older is not necessarily wiser or better.

•Zero tolerance for energy vampires & good time Sallys. Not everyone deserves a seat at your table.

•Eat clean. Stay active. Your health is your most valuable asset.

• Go where the sunshine is. People who make you feel good care about your happiness.

•Benefit of doubts are to be given but don’t waste your time with anyone that can’t return the favour.

•When it comes to money & friendships : Never Borrow. Never lend.

•Truth first unless a lie will save a life.

• Make an effort for friends who’ve proven they’re like family.

•Career choices should feed the soul but also pay the bills . So choose wisely.

•Learn the basic skills of running a home.

•Keep your Eyes, ears and mind always open for knowledge of languages, music and information. There’s nothing duller than a person who doesn’t enjoy or observe all three.

•Compliment people . You never know who needs to hear it.

•Work to make life better , easier and enjoyable for yourself. Lazy efforts beget lazy outcomes.

•Question convention always. 🎶Only shooting stars break the mould.

•Therapy is good for you.

•Trust is important. Never lose it and do not tolerate anyone that abuses it.

•Travel alone at least a few times. It is the most liberating thing in the world.

•Never be ashamed to start again from scratch no matter how old you are.

NGL. There were moments during this trip I just wanted to cry my eyes out . I was mostly ill and tired , with riotous pms , and it was just so hot during the day ; our schedules giving a right damn about all of it. BUT.
And that BUT is so very important because it was enough to overwrite the bad stuff.
It was home. My obvious departure from the delhi chick aesthetic aside , it was organic , second skin stuff. Blending in and out of places , accents , environments like we never left.
With some healthy doses of friends like family.🧿

I just hate that it was so damn short.
Till we meet again Delhi.

I must confess … these sessions are what I truly live for . May even love them more than the final show!

Just to watch it all come together so splendidly like a fly on the wall is in itself a massive reward!

So much of a performance is rooted in patience, perseverance , months of relentless effort and finally and foremost, a collective commitment and love for the art of Music.

So grateful to have musical fairy godmother @lucia_phoenix03 make this happen for all her kids every year!

The shortest long weekend ever . And Nooks and I used our last day to do this while Nea was at a sleepover!

Convince your teen to do one with you. If you come out of it with a hug , then you’ve just spent a few hrs of your life doing parenting right.

If not, wear aprons.
