Hi👋🏼 I’m Janie. North East, UK based Travel UGC creator.

Certified travel addict (the unhinged, compulsive kind). If there’s a flight deal, I’ve probably already seen it, screenshotted it, and started to plan a hypothetical itinerary at 11pm on a Tuesday 😂

I’m technically employed (work full time) but spiritually, always on holiday or plotting my next escape between client calls.

This page exists because I got tired of choosing between having a “proper career” and actually seeing the world, so I stopped choosing.

Here you’ll find affordable luxury travel tips, honest hotel reviews, budget breakdowns, layover hacks, side-quests and the occasional disaster, all from someone who travels 6-8 times a year without quitting her job to do it. Neurospicy brain, very questionable time management and an unruly amount of browser tabs open at once 🤣

No rich parents, no inheritance, no sponsorships (yet), no “just quit and travel” advice, just strategic annual leave, a stubborn refusal to check a bag, and food as a personality trait.

Real talk. Here’s why I actually travel so much 🌍

Partly because the world is so vast and so beautiful and I’m genuinely terrified of running out of time before I’ve seen enough of it. Every day could be your last and that thought doesn’t scare me, it propels me ✈️

Partly because having something to look forward to is the thing that keeps me feeling positive and motivated. Without a trip on the horizon I genuinely don’t feel quite like myself. The planning, the anticipation, the dopamine rush of a new destination, it’s my happy place before I’ve even left the house 🫶🏼

Partly because life can feel really heavy sometimes. The mental load that never really switches off, the weight of everyday life that just accumulates, the relentless busyness of just existing sometimes…and honestly? The state of the world right now doesn’t help. The politics, the hate, the noise, the relentless negativity that seems to be everywhere you look. It can feel completely overwhelming sometimes.

Travel is my answer to that, because when you’re standing somewhere truly beautiful, really standing there, present, breathing it in, none of that noise reaches you.

The world still has so much goodness in it, so much beauty, so much kindness, so many extraordinary places and people. Travel reminds me of that when everything else makes me forget 🌍💕

And partly (if I’m being completely honest) I had a trip cancelled recently I was really looking forward to and it hit me harder than I expected. Which taught me something important about myself…

I don’t just travel for fun. I travel because I think it genuinely keeps me mentally well 🧠✨✈️

My friend Cat says my fairy wings will fall off if I don’t get on a plane every 6-8 weeks 🧚‍♀️ She’s joking. She’s also completely right. Science probably… 🤷🏽‍♀️
I have no notes on this diagnosis 😅

I’m neurodivergent. Dyspraxic for certain (diagnosed and now so much makes sense) with traits of ADHD and ASD (not yet diagnosed) and truly…? Travel might just be the best thing I’ve ever done for my mental health 🧠✈️🙏🏻 and self-confidence.

We’ve all seen them on Instagram. The dreamy Bali villa, the turquoise pool, the floating breakfast that looks like something straight out of a luxury travel brochure.

And honestly? The photos are gorgeous.

But trying to negotiate eating a croissant in a swimming pool without it getting soggy is not quite the fantasy Instagram promised 😂🥐🌺💧

It’s a lot of effort for something that’s essentially a very pretty floating tray. Very much style over substance.

My verdict? Try it once, tick it off your bucket list, get the photos… then go and eat your breakfast at an actual table.

Some places are designed for slow living and Isla de Agua gets it 🏝️🤍

The kind of place where the service is the sort you don’t ask for, but get anyway.

One morning, I was doing yoga on the veranda using a towel because I didn’t have a mat. The next time I stepped outside my room? A rolled-up yoga mat, just there. No fuss, no mention. They’d simply noticed.

And it’s the little details that make the difference. Beach bags packed with snorkel masks and towels, ready for a day by the sea. Breakfast included with exotic fruit, granola, eggs, toast, fresh juice and homemade smoothies. Simple, done well, and enough to set you up for the day.

Six bungalows, a dreamy little pool, lush greenery and beaches and restaurants close enough to wander to.

Nothing much happens here. That’s the whole point

40 is creeping up on me, and honestly… I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m not where I thought I’d be.

I only learned to ride a bike in my 30s
I can’t drive
I don’t have children, and I don’t think I ever will
I’ve taken a slightly unconventional route through life, and for a long time I thought that meant I was somehow behind…

But the older I’ve got, the more I’ve realised there is no universal timeline

Some things just haven’t been right for me. Some things I’ve never needed. And some things I’m still figuring out.

I’ve spent a lot of my life being afraid of running out of time. Not so much afraid of dying, but afraid of leaving this life without having experienced enough of it.

And honestly, that fear has driven a LOT of my choices.

So maybe this next chapter is about doing things differently.

Less fear of what I haven’t done.
More curiosity about what I might do next.

More experiences. More learning. More saying yes. More saying no when I mean no.

And absolutely embracing my crazy travelling rich auntie era 💅🏼✨

Because actually, I’m not behind. My life just looks different but that’s ok.

So here’s to becoming 40 🥂and to remembering that your life doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be a good one 🤍✨

We went on holiday to Bali but we fell in love with Gili Air🐎🏝️💖

No cars, just bicycles and a whole lot of blissful nothing to do while you work out exactly how little you need to do today.

Bali gave us the temples and the traffic. Gili Air gave us this: a stunning island hotel retreat that got everything, right, gorgeous white sand beaches, and a sunset that showed up on cue every single evening.

Turns out the best part of the trip wasn’t the original plan. It was the detour.
