Please send your love and positive thoughts to our sweetest Boogie. Next week, she is undergoing a very risky surgery to remove one of her eyes. Being 12 years old with her health conditions, it’s a big hurdle. Since her diabetes diagnosis in December 2024, when we were told she might only have a couple of years left, we’ve cooked every meal homemade and administered insulin twice a day.
Diabetes-caused cataracts took her sight shortly after, which led to uveitis, severe infection, and ultimately a rupture. Though the surgery is expensive and risky, we are choosing to ease her pain and give her another chance. She might look like a shell of her former self on the outside, but inside, she is still our Sugarfoot. She’s still her sassy self—demanding her food, sunbathing, stopping to smell the flowers, wanting to play ball, and insisting on her daddy rubbing her belly with his foot.
Boogie has been a fighter since day one. Her mom was a stray, and we delivered her ourselves—she was born so premature she was practically see-through, one of only two to survive. We’ve had her for almost as long as we’ve been together, and while we look forward to traveling again one day, we can’t imagine life without her and refuse to give up while she’s still loving life. Thank you all for keeping our resilient girl in your thoughts! by @the_plot_thickens
