Please don’t tell my husband because he got me the HARDCOVER copy of this book for my birthday and that was so incredibly kind and perfect because I’m a HUGE Freida fan.. but I didn’t love this book. It was just OKAY for me. 😐

Don’t get me wrong; I did enjoy a lot of things about the book. I loved the Salem witch trial vibes, dual timeline and family drama/history. Julia was also hilarious even though homegirl didn’t know what mulch was??? Wut? But ultimately the twists were not as big and surprising for a Freida book. I was also super bummed about one of the bigger twists in general. If you’ve read the book, maybe you feel the same way.

I did love reading this with my fav book boogers, and I was tempted to rate a little higher because it was fun to talk with my friends like it was 1600. But, henceforth I must give this book 3.25 stars. Freida is still my queen, and I’m excited to read her new book in March. (WHEN DOES THIS WOMAN SLEEP?!?!)

Book Review 👻🫐🪦

Maggie Holt inherits the creepy castle her family fled 25 years ago. She returns to Baneberry Hall to fix up the house, but ends up uncovering WAY more than she ever imagined!

We’re talking creepy ghost stories, HUGE mysteries, and twists that had me questioning EVERYTHING and EVERYONE. 😳

I listened to part of the audiobook while driving through Pennsylvania as the leaves were starting to turn orange and a little fog rolled in outside. It was the PERFECT ambiance for a creepy book!!

I LOVE dual timelines, multiple perspectives, and a book-within-a-book vibe.
I think this might be my favorite Riley Sager book yet! I’ve read four of his books, and THREE have been 5-star reads for me, but Home Before Dark might be my #1 favorite.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My book boogers and I are thinking about reading Lock Every Door next.

This GORGEOUS edition of Catching Fire was thrifted for me by my book bestie, and I’m obsessed. 🥹✨

5 ⭐️ Reads

These two books had me in such a chokehold that I think I read them both in a few days! I couldn’t get enough!

If you’re looking for the perfect slow burn romances, dual timeline, and the perfect amount of spice, I recommend BOTH of these books!

Mother-Daughter Book Club 📚 🩷

Nothing bonds a mother and daughter quite like a cutie romance!

We liked this book a lot. There were times when Chris was a bit TOO perfect and we didn’t think that was realistic. But ultimately, we thought it was a really cute book and we’re glad we read it together.
