Our programs aren’t just services - they’re pathways back to cultural connection, community healing, and right relationship with Country.

From Elder retreats that honor our knowledge keepers, to postpartum support that wraps new mothers in care, to language classes that keep our voices alive - every program we run strengthens the threads that bind our community together.

This is healing through culture. This is community care in action.

OLD WAYS <> NEW WAYS | Opening Friday 16th October, 5–7pm

Artist Spotlight: Tania Marlowe

Tania Marlowe is a Bundjalung Nyangbal cultural weaver and multidisciplinary artist, weaving with native, endemic, and introduced species harvested across the Ballina region.

After moving back to her traditional homelands of Nyangbal on Bundjalung Country, Tania's interest in weaving was sparked around 2001, reflecting on memories of her Aunties "telling yarns of their days of weaving on the river banks of their homelands at Cabbage Tree Island." These stories inspired her to continue this traditional practice, which now sits alongside textiles, painting, and printmaking in her broader creative work.

Tania also facilitates art workshops and community development programs, sharing cultural knowledge and traditional art-making techniques with others.

Weaving remains the heart of Tania's practice - inspired by, and in acknowledgement of, her Bundjalung Ancestors and Elders.

THREE COHORTS. ONE JOURNEY. A NEW CHAPTER THIS FRIDAY.

Our Bulaan Dalang Galii Naa Gan Ngaa Leen Duu Artist Residency has reached an exciting milestone - the third cohort exhibition opens this Friday, marking the 2026 artists' very first showing together.

Curated by Kylie Caldwell, Old Ways <> New Ways takes inspiration from Tyson Yunkaporta's Sand Talk: How Indigenous Thinking Can Save the World, inviting us to sit with a simple but powerful question: which patterns in how we live sustain us, and which quietly cause harm?

Through the work of 11 emerging artists connected to Bundjalung Country, this exhibition honours cultural systems that have endured despite disruption and attempted erasure - knowledge and practice that continues to live, grow, and adapt.

WHERE: Elevator ARI, 2 Rural Street, Lismore
WHEN: This Friday, October 16th, 5-7pm
ON DISPLAY UNTIL: November 7th

Come walk through this exhibition with us. All welcome. by @the_returning_
