What if you could play Tabla like a drum kit?**

That was the question that started this project.

As a tabla player for over 30 years, I’ve spent my career learning the instrument in its traditional form. But as a producer, I kept running into the same problem...

Most tabla libraries sound great, but they’re not designed for modern beat-making.

They’re built to be played like tabla—not finger-drummed, performed, or sketched out quickly on pads.

So I decided to rethink the workflow.

**Primal Tabla Vol. 1** maps authentic tabla strokes to a familiar drum kit layout, making it feel natural for MPC, Maschine, Ableton Push, Launchpad, and any MIDI pad controller.

Instead of hunting through loops, you can perform expressive grooves in real time, build your own rhythms, and treat the tabla as a playable instrument inside your DAW.

For me, this isn’t about replacing tradition—it’s about creating another way to interact with it.

Sometimes innovation isn’t inventing a new sound...

It’s removing the barriers between an idea and the music.

I’d love to hear what you think after watching the video.

PRIMAL TABLA LIBRARY VOL. 1

Mendi Singh, a 30-year tabla veteran (Peter Gabriel, Take That), presents Primal Tabla Library Vol. 1.

Play Tabla Like a Drum Kit for Beatmakers.

Authentic tabla one-shots and loops mapped for finger drumming, beatmaking, and modern music production.

Designed for producers seeking organic movement, expressive percussion, and unique rhythmic textures, Primal Tabla Library Vol. 1 transforms the sound of the tabla into a playable, production-ready percussion toolkit.

Recorded on Mendi’s custom-built professional tabla set, the library captures warm resonant tones, crisp percussive attacks, and deep bass articulations that sit naturally in contemporary productions while retaining the expressive character of his world-renowned playing. #samples #NoAIsamples #humanmade by @the_sample_universe
