Getting started is often the hardest part. Whether it's applying for an internship, launching an idea, or learning a new skill, it's easy to wait until you feel ready. In SCLA's CEO Unscripted Speaker Series, entrepreneur Dan Cleary shared his advice for college students waiting for the "right time”:

"If you take that first step... you're already ahead of 99% of people."

Dan Cleary was attending New York University when he began creating products, launching businesses, and learning by doing. These experiences eventually led him to becoming a successful entrepreneur and startup founder.

Thus, opportunities and great ideas don’t require having the perfect plan, especially when plans adapt and change along the way.

"Maximizing my time and how I use it is the number one important goal. If money plays a role in that, tremendous. But you don't get time back. You can always earn more money."

It's easy to think success is about getting ahead as quickly as possible.
But in SCLA's CEO Unscripted Speaker Series, Lauren Imparato offered a different perspective, saying that, "To be successful, you have to hold true to what your value system is. Stick to your values and ethics despite maybe a faster path to success or more money or more fame."

As a college student, your reputation starts long before your first full-time job.

The choices you make today, such as how you treat others, the standards you set for yourself, and the integrity you show, help shape the kind of leader you'll become.

Success built on strong values lasts longer than success built on shortcuts, as your character is one of the most valuable things you'll ever build.
