1/2 jokers, 𝔖𝔞𝔦𝔩𝔬𝔯𝔰

We thought it would be funny to do the sailor moon poses at my wedding but we were too dumb to realize that we have to flip the reference image if we use it like a mirror.

3 months later, we had another chance and somehow posed even more incorrectly. This drawing both revises history and honors the one brain cell bouncing between us four. by @the_walkover

Queens! ♣️♥️♦️♣️

A year ago I drew Marissa and Piper with their respective cats as tarot cards. More friends got cats so this September I added Leah and Anna.

I thought it about making a whole tarot deck, but i also wanted the cards to be functional so I converted the 4 into queens and challenged myself to draw a whole standard deck of playing cards.

Some have asked me why I didn’t draw cat tarot versions of me and Owen. Two people two cats right? Well for that to work one of the cats has to favor me over Owen. Those two follow Owen around the house and throw tantrums when he’s away.

Owen has his two cats
Alice has her army of freshwater creatures

Jokers:
Alas we have caught up the present, so I will be posting the two jokers as I finish them. No promises that I can keep up this posting streak by @the_walkover

Owen and his cat chariot

Jack of clubs marks the last card I drew chronologically of the standard 52 deck; finished on October 9th.

Certainly the most difficult composition but it might be my favorite of the whole deck. by @the_walkover

Hearts numbers

Ok back to fruit
Wanted a fruit that was vaguely hearts shaped. Strawberries and wax apples came to mind, although wax apples need to get their life together. You need to taste way better to look that cool by @the_walkover

Sning of snubs

I thought it would be funny to put two snails on a crown instead of 2 tiny crowns on their snail heads. by @the_walkover

Here is David breakdancing atop a shrimp

Queen of spades is circus themed so some sort of acrobatics in the Jack card feels appropriate. Shrimp is on a tightrope for added stakes. Also marked improvements on the shrimp compared to the king of spades by @the_walkover

Clubs numbers

I diverted from the fruit theme for this suit. It was originally going to be lychees but I wanted to match the fluorescent theme of the other club cards, so we ended up with shrooms by @the_walkover

The water spinach growing out of my aquarium has aphids. Every few weeks I pick them off the leaves with tweezers and feed them to the minnows by @the_walkover

I think fuyu persimmons are kind of a miraculous fruit. Most people I’ve met who’ve never had one immediately disqualify it due to its resemblance to a tomato.

Brother. It is a tree fruit with z e r o c o r e

One contiguous tree fruit with no distractions in the middle with a flavor somewhere between an apple and a cantaloupe. Apple and pear technology is stuck in the Stone Age by comparison.

King of spades

I really like looking at shrimp yet I have a very difficult time drawing them. Hopefully I can capture their shrimpy anatomy better with more practice.

I realize both shrimp are carrying eggs. That’s a feature not a bug 🫃 by @the_walkover
