Former City Council member George Karakehian: “In all my years on Council, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a better project than this one, or one that does more for our community. Not only do we get the senior housing, the memory care units, and the skilled nursing, but we also get 108 permanently affordable senior housing units.” Sign the Petition to Support Permanently Affordable Senior Housing - link in bio!

"Boulder desperately lacks affordable housing, especially for our senior population, which continues to grow...Boulder needs a lot more than 100 units of permanently affordable housing to meet the need. But through this project at 311 Mapleton and at Fruehauf's, it's a step in the right direction." - William Cooper

"As an attorney, I felt a professional responsibility to take a closer look...what's being proposed is much more in line with the surrounding neighborhood than what's there now. The proposed development brings in more permeable surfaces, there's more green space...the building heights are actually lower than what's currently there. It's designed to be an integrated part of the community at the human level...it creates opportunities for intergenerational and interlocational interactions."

The Academy will fill a void in Boulder's senior housing crisis by providing 108 units of permanently affordable senior housing – eight at the 311 Mapleton site, and 100 at the proposed Fruehauf's location.

We are not a gated community. In fact, our neighborhood access programs will allow nearby neighbors to use The Academy facilities, including home care services. Curious about our community benefits? Visit our link in our bio!
