I am overjoyed to announce the creation of The Andrea C. Bibbs Group Award, an athletic financial award to support Black student-athletes at my alma mater, Toronto Metropolitan University.

In April, I had the pleasure of being a panelist at TMU's annual Last Lecture event. I, along with other alumni, spoke with graduating students about what we've learned and experienced since we left campus. It was such a beautiful experience to share some words and wisdom that I wish I had heard before entering the "real world."

At that event, I met and had a great conversation with Cathy Nguyen, who is the Associate Director of Athletics & Recreation at the University. We spoke about my desire to give back, and in subsequent conversations once I returned to Atlanta, she paved the way to help me establish this award. This was something that I had been thinking about for years but honestly never thought it could be a reality for someone like me. I'm forever grateful to both Cathy and her entire team for helping me make this personal dream come true.

I was intentional about creating this award for Black student-athletes. After participating in track & field throughout most of my school-aged life, I had to give up on my dream of competing at the collegiate level when I decided to attend TMU to study radio and television broadcasting. I understand the unique challenges Black student athletes face and I hope this award can help ease some of the pressures they may feel in their last year of study.

Even though my company, @theacbgroup, is less than a year old, it was important that as a business owner, I give back to the causes that mean the most to me. I can't wait to announce the first recipient of this award later this year. Stay tuned!

Allow me to introduce myself... My name is Andrea Harry Bibbs, founder of The ACB Group.

Spent yesterday morning speaking with journalism students at @kennesawstateuniversity and left SO energized by the conversation.

Huge thanks to Prof. Amy Cox, who I actually worked with back in our CNN.com days in the early 2000s, for inviting me into the classroom and for creating such a phenomenal 7-day career workshop for her students. Especially now, we truly need more experiences like this for media students.

It was a thoughtful conversation led mostly by the students themselves. We talked about my career journey from my early days in media through leadership roles across the industry and now entrepreneurship, which I’m only about four years into.

The students asked such smart questions about career pivots, networking, personal branding, leadership, financial realities and relationship-building.

A couple things I shared with them:

• Sometimes raising your hand for the opportunities others avoid is exactly what helps shape your path.
• Careers rarely move in a straight line. Staying flexible, curious and open to learning has shaped every chapter of mine.

When I left my corporate role almost four years ago, I honestly didn't think I'd be asked to speak to college students again, so I'm really grateful every time I get an invitation to share, connect and hopefully encourage the next generation of storytellers and creatives. taken in Kennesaw State University by @theacbgroup

I had the absolute privilege of attending my third @ups Impact Summit earlier this week at their HQ here in Atlanta.

This year's gathering focused on community and the need to support small businesses more than ever.

UPS CEO Carol Tomé kicked off the event with encouraging words for the many entrepreneurs in the room by reminding us that UPS started as a small business in 1907 by John Case with $100 and a bike.

There were so many great speakers including my friend @drkeyhallmon who, as usual, poured so much into all of us with her beautiful words and testimony. She is such a gift to our generation! (Swipe to listen to a tidbit.) Like Dr. Key, I never thought that entrepreneurship would be my path in life, but I'm so glad I was led in this direction.

UPS has played such an incredible part of my @junedragonflybox journey since before I even had branding or a website. I met UPS employee Stephen Hewitt at an event at @saltbox a couple months after registering the business and he connected me with his colleague who created a business account for me. (I was shipping boxes full price from my local @theupsstore 🫣.) A year later, I was selling June Dragonfly at their HQ and then featured on their blog and social accounts.

Grateful for these blessings and what's yet to come! Swipe to discover some of the amazing small businesses that were featured at the Small Business Showcase and to see the goodies I picked up from some amazing women-owned businesses.

We recently connected with @dreaday, founder of @junedragonflybox + @theacbgroup , to share goals and dreams for the year. ✨

Entrepreneurship feels less lonely when you’re surrounded by people who lift you up; it’s about building a village, not going it alone. 💫

Earlier this month, I had the honor of leading a session called, “The Power of Telling Your Authentic Story” for a group of brilliant young women navigating college, identity and leadership.

We talked about how storytelling isn’t just for brands -- it’s a tool for self-definition, influence and impact. And how personal branding is really about showing up as your full, authentic self.

This session was part of the Legacy Leadership Program -- an 18-month leadership experience for Black women business owners leading with purpose and housed at @thelola_women. I'm so grateful to be a part of the 2024-25 cohort alongside four other dynamic founders.

One of the best parts of this journey has been getting to mentor and learn alongside the Emerging Leaders -- a group of talented, BIPOC college women passionate about storytelling, advocacy and social impact.

Meet the incredible changemakers I’ve worked with this summer:

✨ Mayenie (@xo_maymai)– a media & social justice storyteller from @georgiatech
✨ Natalie – an illustrator and creative writer from @georgiastateuniversity
✨ Charity – a purpose-driven political science major from @spelman_college
✨ Alexis – a future public health leader focused on health equity from @georgiastateuniversity
✨ Jenny – a passionate nursing student and community advocate from @emoryuniversity

These women are the future -- and the present. 🙌🏾💜✨️

So many gems were shared... from platforms I hadn't heard about (Opus Clip; Ramp; Descript & more) and great prompts to use. (Check out the promt guide from @shelearnsai.)

Great job moderating the panel @staycuriouskat and great seeing you @morganrcornelius! Thanks for bringing this event to Atlanta!

I’m so excited to share that I’m featured on the latest episode of the @transformthrive podcast with the incredible Jessalin Lam (@joyofjessalin).

We had such a powerful conversation about my journey from 20+ years in corporate media to becoming the founder of @junedragonflybox -- my purpose-driven gifting company that curates products from women-owned and underrepresented brands -- and launching @theacbgroup, my boutique media and marketing consultancy.

We talked about:
▪️Taking the leap into entrepreneurship
▪️Building a legacy and leading by example
▪️The mindset shifts that keep me going
▪️How community and purpose are at the heart of everything I do

If you’re navigating change, dreaming of launching a business or seeking inspiration to pursue your purpose, I hope my story inspires you to take that first step.

🎧 Watch the episode here: https://bit.ly/transform-thrive-07-andrea-harry-bibbs

Thank you Jessalin for creating space for stories like mine and for such a thoughtful conversation.

Third Fridays at @thelola_women are always such a vibe! Love seeing so many of my favorite people all in the same place. The LOLA is a beautiful and inclusive women's co-working space and community located in the Old Fourth Ward (across from Ponce City Market.)

I'm so blessed to not only be a member, but also to have The LOLA as an @theacbgroup client helping to cultivate partnerships, sponsorships and curate The LOLA Shop with amazing products from local women-owned brands.

On Third Fridays, we open the doors to women in the community to experience The LOLA for the day. Yesterday, we were also joined by some of our amazing local partners Heyday Midtown Spa, @satiyogaatl. @bundtish, co-owned by LOLA member @staceybwashington popped up with her DELICIOUS pound cakes and Happy Hour tunes were peovided by @djcerajane. We also hosted the last day of the Women & AI Futures conference led by my friend (and fellow #CanadianInTheEh) @iamliberty.

Next month, Third Fridays are moving to the Fourth Friday - April 25th. Hit me up if you're interested in a discounted ticket or if you'd like to learn more about becoming a LOLA partner or member!

Big thanks to @creativeladderorg for the invite to their Atlanta Summit yesterday! I've had the pleasure of joining a few focus groups with their incredible team, sharing my thoughts on the creative industry here in Atlanta.

They're intentional about listening to feedback and turning it into thoughtful programming... and yesterday did not disappoint! It was beautiful reconnecting with old friends, meeting inspiring new ones, and soaking in the energy from the speakers.

What makes Creative Ladder extra special to me is that at last year's event, they gifted each of us a curated box from @ups, featuring items from local Atlanta small businesses. I held onto that box as a sign and a nudge to pursue my dream of starting a gifting business. Less than two months later, I registered @junedragonflybox. And just a few months after that, I was selected to showcase my brand at UPS HQ and was honored to be featured in one of their social media campaigns.

Forever grateful to the entire Creative Ladder team, including Co-Founder & CEO @dionnadorsey and Program Director @abnia_loriston for all that they do to empower and support diverse creatives.

Make sure to follow @creativeladderorg to find out about upcoming events in your city and for ways to support this amazing non-profit organization.
