Deep dive into the benefits of cycling

🫁 Cardiovascular Health, cycling is a powerful aerobic exercise that helps enhance VO2 max, by improved cardiovascular endurance, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, by lowering blood pressure and decreasing arterial stiffness.

🦵Joint Health and Mobility: As a low-impact exercise, cycling promotes the lubrication of joints and reduces stiffness, thereby improving mobility and reducing pain associated with joint conditions.

💪🏼 Muscle Strength and Endurance, enhancing overall stability and strength throughout the quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, glutes and core.

🧠 Mood Enhancement and Stress Reduction, Physical activity, like cycling, triggers the release of endorphins, which are natural mood lifters. This can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, enhance self-esteem, and provide a sense of well-being. Outdoor cycling, in particular, offers the added benefit of exposure to nature, which has been shown to further alleviate stress and improve mental health.

😴Cognitive Function and Sleep Quality, Regular cycling can improve cognitive functions such as memory, attention, and problem-solving skills by increasing blood flow to the brain. It also helps regulate sleep patterns by reducing stress and promoting physical tiredness, leading to better sleep quality and more restorative rest.

👯‍♂️ Social Interaction and Community: Cycling can be a social activity, providing opportunities for group rides, races, and cycling clubs. This fosters a sense of community, offers social support, and enhances motivation to stay active. by @theactivecondition

Next time, warm up with some light strength and simple drills. by @theactivecondition

I use myself as an example a lot, but YOU are an incredible piece of kit capable of adaption and change.

6 months ago, 18km felt daunting and out of reach. I was somewhat fresh back into running after an injury, and relatively for me out of shape.

I put the work in, I did the rehab, and I know you can too.

Nowadays 18km feels like a dream, an enjoyable Sunday morning run.
