I was talking to a friend recently, and we found ourselves sitting in a question that felt… honest:

Is real, lasting joy even possible?

Because if I’m honest, I don’t know that I’ve ever felt fully, truly, consistently happy.
There are moments—beautiful ones—but they pass. And then it’s quiet again.

And I know I’m not the only one who has felt that.

What does it look like to be joyful when prayers feel unanswered?
When life feels hollow?
When you’re waiting, and searching, and nothing seems to shift?

That question led me somewhere.

I started listening, reading, paying attention—and I found myself back in 2 Corinthians, looking at Paul’s life.

Beaten.
Shipwrecked.
In danger over and over again.
Exhausted.
Imprisoned.

And yet… still speaking about Christ.
Still finding a reason to rejoice.

There’s a part where he’s in prison, and instead of only seeing chains, he sees that the guards around him are hearing about Jesus.

Another moment—people are preaching with the wrong motives, trying to make things harder for him.
And his response is… at least Christ is being preached.

That stayed with me.

Because how do you live like that?

How do you carry that much sorrow… and still have joy?

I’m starting to realize that maybe it’s not because his life was easy.
It’s because his focus was different.

Not “how do I feel?”
But “how is Christ being seen in this?”

And I began to see something in myself too.

How often I’ve tried to find joy in things—in outcomes, in timing, in what I can hold.
And how quickly that kind of joy disappears.

But Paul said he learned to be content.
Which means this kind of joy… is learned.

And maybe that’s why it feels like warfare.

Unlearning a life built on what is seen,
and slowly being rooted in something deeper.

I don’t think joy means the absence of sorrow.
I think it means you’re not empty in it.

I’m still walking through this.
Still learning.

But I’m beginning to believe that it is possible
to be sorrowful… and yet have joy.

Some days are heavier than others.

I don’t know how everyone gets through their days — whether you’re a corporate girl, a student, a parent, or just navigating life. Today was a bit tough for me.

The one thing that keeps me grounded is my faith in Jesus.
Sometimes my faith is tested, sometimes I feel weary, but I’m always grateful that He never stops pursuing me and drawing me back to Himself.

This is the core of who I am.

Wherever you are in your day, I hope you allow Him to love on you today. 🤍
