The installation of the Scent Trail. Our imaginings are rapidly becoming a reality . I have loved, albeit stressful at times the creative rhythms of bringing a vision into being. Best part is handing over to the team who are as engaged as I am. Connections make great alchemy/ transformation. by @thealembicslab

We're busy growing, gathering and sourcing the best botanicals. Take a look at what's growing in our production garden and what we have for you in our storehouse... by @thealembicslab

Make sophisticated, zero-alcohol fermented sodas. Just one of our Summer Workshop Series this Jan/Feb at The Alembics Lab on beautiful Waiheke Island. by @thealembicslab

Sometimes it’s just time to dig it out. Italian chicory, such a generous and spectacular plant. Check out the colours. It’s a beautiful member of our “colours of vitality” garden at the Lab. by @thealembicslab

This summer: Healing herbal honeys, and our cascading extraction process that uses the by-products to produce golden elixirs and sweet treats.

More info on this and more summer sessions can be found in the link in our bio. by @thealembicslab

Exciting new summer workshops are live! Botanical Sodas, Herbal Honeys and a day dedicated to botanical distilling & formulating.

Love a good excuse to get the Nano out, that’s the little still by the way. Great for small runs trials and tests. I’ve managed to pack 2.5k in the still and 3ml of EO out which is enough for lab testing. Bonus is a litre and a half of beautiful hydrosol. by @thealembicslab

The light has changed and the bird song is enthusiastic early spring. Time to distill. Thought it was to top up the Kanuka supply but this glorious Manuka was the star. by @thealembicslab

Winter distilling. We are making Kawakawa salves and Kawakawa and Mamaku Hydrogels and I’ve used up all the Kanuka essential oil which will be the supporting active in each. We often distill Kanuka in the winter as it still yields EO. A member of the Myrtaceae family which have low yields of EO. It’s has a high % of a-pinene, some linalool and many many minor constituents. I find myself being grounded and calm when I’m working the still and can count on a good sleep after being infused by the distillation. It will work well as an anti microbial and anti inflammatory in both products. Both products are made with our NZ natives harvested on Waiheke distilled and extracted by us at The Alembics Lab. by @thealembicslab

Find out how to create your own living pharmacy. Visit us and take a walk through a modern physic garden. by @thealembicslab

Calendula are the harbinger of spring. While we wait for our renovations we are in the “making space” my favourite planet 🪐. Prepping the infused oils, tidying the formula spreadsheets so I can train the team to make them, stocking up on packaging and just generally enjoying the moment. by @thealembicslab

Isn’t it the way, make a beautiful space and put it aside, in this instance piled up on industrial racking and stored off site in containers. All to make space for new beginnings. Our Blender Bars are open for booking in October along with much more. Check our link tree in the bio. by @thealembicslab
