Here’s a handy list for an AUTUMN DECLUTTER!
🍂 Summer clothes you didn’t wear
🍂Children’s outfits they’ll have outgrown by
next summer.
🍂Jumpers / coats in good condition that just
aren’t your style anymore.
🍂Shoes you never choose - including that pair
you keep hoping will become comfortable.
🍂Handbags and jewellery that never leave the
wardrobe.
🍂Book you’ve finished or know you won’t read.
🍂Toys, teddys and games your children have moved on from. Check they are donation safe.
🍂Vases, ornaments and other homeware you no longer love.
🍂Spare kitchenware taking up space “just in case”…
Those things sitting untouched in our homes could be someone else’s lovely little charity shop find, while helping raise money for a GREAT causes.
Keep donations clean, usable and in good condition, and check what your local shop accepts before dropping them off. I hate being turned away. Repair or find a suitable recycling
option for damaged pieces
Start with one drawer or one room. You don’t have to sort the entire house to do something worthwhile.

I love being a mum. But I’m also learning that I’m allowed to LOVE being Amina just as much without guilt.

That first year of motherhood was really difficult for me. Postpartum anxiety on level 1000, broken sleep, exclusively breastfeeding and not having a support system/being needed constantly was exhausting. I was and am still trying to understand who I am in the middle of it all. I loved my baby so much, but there were days when I really really missed myself. Then I’d feel guilty for even thinking that & “not appreciating my blessings”.

It’s strange going from having your own routine, a career and time that belongs to you and your partner, to planning your entire day around somebody else’s needs. Somewhere between the cluster feeds, nappies and cold cups of coffee, it’s become easier to stop asking myself what I needed. But then I lost myself. It was awful.

I’m SLOWLY learning that loving my daughter doesn’t mean every part of me has to become about motherhood. I can care about my clothes, enjoy getting ready, have ambitions, be creative and want a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with my child.

None of that takes away from how much I love being her mum. There’s room for all of it.

I’m also making peace with the fact that my life has changed. I don’t need to spend these years trying to recreate exactly who I was before her. Mentally or physically. My priorities are different. My time is different. I’m different. And some of those changes are things I genuinely cherish.

Alhamdulillah, getting to watch her grow is such a blessing. I want to enjoy it without feeling that I have to disappear as a person to do it properly.

So getting through that first year hasn’t meant suddenly having everything figured out. I'm just starting to see the light and finding little moments of feeling more like myself, making room for things I enjoy and learning to take my own needs seriously too.

I can cherish this chapter and still have things I want for myself. I’m her mum, and I’m still an entirely different person too. Is this a universal experience of motherhood? 🥹#motherhood #ppd #ppa #mumtok #contentcreator by @theaminalife
