Godley Grind Coffee Company's coffee truck renovation is underway! Because of the heart of a generous donor, Answer was able to gift Patti & Deahl Rooks with $5000 to complete this project! We will keep you updated on the progress of the truck! So keep your eyes open for where it will make its debut!

The Godley Grind is more than a great up of coffee, it’s a ministry! This family-owned business provides a sense of belonging and advocacy to young people who have aged out of the foster care system. While learning new skills and earning a paycheck, the staff at Godley Grind develops a new mind-set of independence and hope.

An estimated 60% of child sex trafficking victims have been a part of the foster care system. When a child turns 18 or graduates from high school, they are considered “aged out” of the foster care system and are often expected to fend for themselves with little to no support. This leaves them especially vunerable to the manipulation of human traffickers. (Natl Foster Youth Institute)

Out of those who age out of the system, AT LEAST 22% end up homeless and A THIRD of these homeless teens are lured into human trafficking WITHIN 48 HOURS of being on the streets.

** Update on Baby Promise**

Our partners in Uganda have reached out with an update today. Annet is still recovering from her C-section. She and Promise have been transported to a better hospital and admitted for ongoing medical care.

Phase 1 of 3 of the reconstructive surgery is underway. Many tests, medications and prep are still needed for the upcoming surgeries on this newborn girl. Baby Promise is likely to be in the hospital at for at least 30 days for major procedures and recovery.

* Funding is crucial for Annett and the survival of her baby. The TOTAL COST of the treatment plan at this time is $7920.

To put 3 children in braces, on average is about $3000 per child here in the United States. MULTIPLE, life-saving surgeries in Uganda, Africa for THIS child is under $8000.

🚨 IMMEDIATE MEDICAL NEED🚨
"As we continue to serve children and girls that have suffered sexual abuse and pregnant, we are encountering several unique situations. Last year, we had several babies born prematurely with severe health conditions. Sadly, we lost 4 babies and one of our mothers. This is one of the painful experiences of our ministry - when we must bury the very children we work to save. "

BABY PROMISE:
Annet is a 16 year old mom. When COVID 19 hit and schools were closed, Annet started working in a local restaurant in town to earn money to support her family. She was raped and shunned by her father. She was kicked out of her home, alone, pregnant and scorned. Annet was rescued by on of our partners in Uganda and taken to their Freedom Home to be cared for, protected and prepare for the birth of her baby.
Baby Promise arrived by emergency C-section on 2/23/22.
She been born with many serious medical needs; she has a club foot, her fingers have signs of abnormality and her reproductive area has significant malformation. The doctors have recommended immediate reconstructive surgery in all areas of concern. This will entail a 4 hour commute to a specialist for further assessment, treatment planning and SURGERIES.

The Answer International Team had an awesome lunch at Godley Grind Coffee Company today! The food was delicious both from their monthly guest @cousinsmainelobster and from the Godley Grind Bakery! If you have not tried their Friday special, grilled cheese and tomato soup, you are missing out!

Godley Grind is a family-owned coffee shop and bakery in Godley, TX on a mission to care for foster children. The owners are long time foster parents who saw a need for employment as their foster kiddos grew into young adults, so they decided to do something about it! Godley Grind employs and empowers children who are in foster care and aging out. Through their business they have seen many kids grow and flourish because of the lessons learned in working at Godley Grind!

100% JUNGLE this time last year - Matendo, Uganda! 100% SUSTAINABLE FREEDOM this year! The Answer family has contributed 100% of the funding needed to develop this community from jungle to this. New water wells, primary school, secondary school, medical clinic, (5) children's homes, cafeteria, restrooms, tractor, church and so much more. This is true transformation!

This project was hard bid, executed, on-time, on-budget. $400K was allocated to this project. We came in just under $393K. This is the power of a willing heart, powerful project management, and a conviction to get it right for people who depend on us the most.
