4 years ago today, @theegabbyyy saved my life! 🎉🎉🎉

In October 2017, I was diagnosed with kidney failure during a routine visit and was sent to the emergency room immediately. My kidneys were functioning at 4% and thank God I found out when I did. I spent the next 2 and half years on dialysis. 3x a week, 4 hours each time. I have been through many things but nothing compares to waking up everyday to face your mortality.

During this time, Gabby went and got evaluated to find out if she was a match and she was 🥳. Her love and sacrifice gave me another chance at life and I can’t Thank God enough. ♥️ by @thearielle

One thing traveling over the years taught me is that ima activities, outdoorsy/nature, explorer type girl. Once I figured that out, it made it easier for me to skip the things that I don’t really enjoy. Spending the day in the desert was a blast! We 4-wheeled, rode camels, sand surfed, got henna, and ate a multiple course dinner while enjoying entertainment. The shisha was definitely a bonus. I wouldn’t leave Dubai without trying it 😉 by @thearielle

The Grand Mosque located in Abu Dhabi is one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture and places of worship I have ever seen. Learning about a religion and culture that I don’t know much about definitely shifted my personal perspective on how expansive the many different ways people interpret and praise God.

I think America has given us a limited idea of the world and how beautiful and functional it is outside of our illusion of freedom and safety. I realized just how fragile our reality was as soon as I stepped outside of the borders and saw for myself. Traveling to learn more about the world brings me closer to myself.
