~the drying rack experiement~

It’s always frustrating when you don’t have the means to materialize into reality what you have in mind. But as @inspiredtowrite artists should have the space to experiment publicly, so here it is !

I thought about tying the strings to a hand, but as a white person it would have given a whole other dimension to the piece. Meanwhile, when I started this project what really interested me were the facial expressions and eye sight directions. Slowly, it became about the familial cultural heritage and how it impacts how we project ourselves in who we want to become. However, I do think that as the first piece with only POC it also highlights the lack of representation of those people in printed advertising/ fashion magazines.
My point is : the piece is not about races as an American eye could interpret, but I do acknowledge that the dimension on skin color might be seen as a bigger topic in this piece than it was intended

~ok google : how do you present your art to the world~
Is that a self portrait?
When I thought about starting back this account, I had to reflect on how I could respect the version of me that started it while expressing myself as who I am now. More than adding a “T” I really thought about the profil picture as a way to present myself. I could explain every symbols but it wouldn’t mean as much as it means to myself. However, the story of this picture is beautiful. It was taken when I was 16 and I always kept it, in my very first memory box, cause I knew I will use it one day. At that time, I didn’t like a lot of the pictures that were taken of me. But I kept this one. Because there was something about the light that reflects in my eyes, despite the black and white ink of the school’s printer. 5 years later I’m so glad I did. Funny enough, I didn’t change that much, and my hair length is similar as it was back then.
I didn’t know how to present it, but I knew I had to use my walls, cause it’s the proof that collage never left me. And when I saw this cutout of Georgio’s poster it just made sense. It was my first (and only) favorite rapper that I still listen to. Héra especially reminds me of that time. The power of this song is that it makes me nostalgic of a time that was hard to get through.
Anyways, here we are. Thank you for the support of all 10 people that joined and the 2 that encouraged me. It means so much cause she would have never even dared to share this account on her main one. She would have never thought that anyone would ever take it seriously. But it is very serious now : look ! It turnnnssssss !!! ✨

Même si on apprend pas à prendre la création au sérieux, j’espère que cette fois j’arriverai à exprimer les images et les émotions, qu’elles parlent aux autres ou non.

~chaque renouveau est une déchirure~

Presque 4 ans après je reprends ce rêve que je n’avais pas formulé. Le collage ne m’a jamais quitté, parce que j’ai toujours voulu être un compositeur de morceaux de vie. J’espère que mon ancien.ne moi est aussi fière que je suis heureuse d’avoir gardé ses créations digitales.
