Today is the Day!!! At 12pm pst a ribbon cutting ceremony for my baby @sew_trill mural “ a soft place to land “ across from the Seattle art fair entrance 📈 also print signing and merch release at @populushotel_seattle . Then at 5pm PST at @railspur.seattle HELLO MY NAME IS art show with @theishyu providing the soundtrack. And to close out tommorow we are hosting a brunch ( tickets still available) at populus hotel ✨✨ go to populusseattle.com to purchase tickets for the brunch ✨ see you all today and tommorow by @theartofalbaseer

Took a quick trip to LA for Olivia dean concert and take the kids to universal studios. Moons first concert she did so good … universal was a different animal 😂😂 over all amazing trip. Felt like we really did our mom and dad thing @sew_trill lol 😘❤️ by @theartofalbaseer

Last week was magical had some family and friends in town for the art show opening, did a family 4th of July hike which was a much needed recharge . Opening night of HELLO MY NAME IS show in Seattle and the love the energy and the turn out was VERY overwhelming ✨✨✨🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 I’m grateful to have the support of @ffttnw and @railspur.seattle for my first curation in the Pacific Northwest. It’s always special but this year it was SPECIAL!!!!!! I also want to let friends and family know I try my best each year to accommodate everyone but with the venue change and artist lineup it was only so much I could do. Everybody comes to The Roots Picnic for the music.

But one of the most important conversations happening all weekend is happening through visual art.

This year, Al-baseer Holly’s exhibition, The Gathering, brings together artists from across the country to explore identity, culture, memory, community, and what it means to truly show up for one another.

I had the chance to explore the exhibit and have a full convo about the inspiration and mission behind “The Gathering”. I got some insight on some of the pieces and gained deeper perspective on the goals of @theartofalbaseer art & curation.

Just sitting down heading back home to Seattle and had time to reflect on a time that was had.. thank you to all the artist who were apart of this years show. Thanks for trusting me to showcase your beautiful work the right way no matter the setting. This was my 5th year doing this exhibition and it was the best to date. Thank you again to the people who help me put this together @livenationurban and the whole team @rootspicnic @brandon_pankey @kristynaldrich @just_canphilly all the love and the response to this show is overwhelming but receivable ✨✨✨✨✨📈📈📈📈 until next time by @theartofalbaseer

The Roots Picnic wasn’t just a celebration of music this weekend, it was also a celebration of visual art.

The Gathering, curated by Al-Baseer Holly, brought together an extraordinary group of artists from across the country, creating a space where art, culture, and community could meet in a meaningful way.

Congratulations to Al-Baseer and all of the talented artists whose work helped make this exhibition a memorable part of the festival experience for VIP Gold attendees. Through powerful storytelling, bold creativity, and diverse perspectives, The Gathering reminded us that visual art is an essential part of how culture is documented, preserved, and shared.

Honored to have been part of this historic moment in Philadelphia and grateful to everyone who stopped by to experience the exhibition.
