TCR’s mission: “to captivate and inspire through the theatrical and performing arts.”

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We’re thrilled to celebrate TCR’s own Mic Evans, who has been named one of the Corridor Business Journal’s 2026 Forty Under 40 honorees!

As our Director of Education and Community Engagement, Mic brings creativity, compassion, and a genuine commitment to connecting people through the arts. If you’ve been to see The Exorcist, you’ve also seen Mic onstage in the role of Father Damien Karras! We’re lucky to have someone whose talents and contributions extend from our classrooms and community partnerships to our stage.

Congratulations, Mic! We’re so proud to have you on our team and excited to see you recognized among the Corridor’s outstanding young leaders ❤️

Theatre Cedar Rapids mourns the loss of Damon Cole, a beloved musician, music director, teacher, mentor, colleague, and friend whose extraordinary gifts helped shape musical theatre in Cedar Rapids for decades.

For generations of TCR artists, Damon was an unmistakable presence: seated at the piano, smiling as he played, somehow commanding an entire room—and oftentimes the entire orchestra—with a nod of his head. His musicianship was remarkable. But in the many memories being shared since his passing, an even greater legacy emerges.

Damon made people feel welcome. He encouraged young artists. He championed performers. He shared his gifts generously and made those around him better. He was kind, funny, witty, wonderfully creative, and entirely himself.

Across decades of productions at Theatre Cedar Rapids, Damon helped create countless moments of music and theatre that live on in the memories of our artists and audiences. His influence extended far beyond our stages, through the Cedar Rapids Follies, churches, schools, and throughout the artistic life of this community. There are people making music and making theatre today because Damon once welcomed them to his piano, believed in them, or gave them an opportunity.

That is a remarkable legacy.

Our hearts are with Damon’s family, friends, and the enormous community of artists who loved him. We are grateful beyond measure for the music, laughter, artistry, generosity, and joy he gave Theatre Cedar Rapids and this community.

His seat at the piano may be empty, but the music Damon Cole made here will reverberate for generations.

Thank you, Damon. ❤️ by @theatrecr
