One of the best places to chill in Singapore with great vibes and a kitchen that serves awesome food until 3am! Their Chorizo with Burrata & Bottarga was simply outstanding while the Spanish Octopus would rival Michelin graded restaurants! Other items we tried include the Hokkaido Scallop with Caviar (delicious coconut cream sauce), Tuna Belly Tartare with Yuzu, and Steak & Caviar Bites. For dessert, the Tiramisu was also one of the better ones in town.

For drinks, my favourite was their Espresso Martini that came with a little serving of their amazing Tiramisu. It was the perfect pairing of my favourite boost with the right balance of liquor. Other drinks we tried:
- The Monk’s Sour
- Percolated Espresso Martini
- Improved Bee’s Knees
- Negroni Supreme
- 21st Century Singapore Sling
- The Arbitrary Power of Fire

Headed by multiple award-winning Master Bartender Dario Knox, they are the pioneers of a technique called “Percolated Cocktails” as well as “Open Flames Cocktails”. You basically get Sub Zero Temperature Drinks made only by using Fire! Really cool right? You’ll be hard pressed to find a better place to hang out (until 3am) in town!

This is my favourite hidden bar in Singapore! @thebackdropsg is tucked right in Orchard Road, and serves up some of the coolest and tastiest cocktails around! One of the highlights for me is always their Percolated Espresso Martini, which is perfectly clear, put together like a science experiment by your table, and is extremely tasty! The crazy thing is, they’re the pioneers of this technique!

On top of that, they’ve also got yummy bar bites like the Golden Caviar Pillow, Steak & Caviar Bites, Hokkaido Scallop and Spanish Octopus, and their kitchen is open till 3am every day!

Another one of their recent creations is their Open Flame Cocktails! Creating sub zero temperature drinks using fire, it messes with your mind, but creates some punchy tasty drinks like the Monsieur Gaudin that was so smooth!

Some classics need no introduction — it made us wonder, how could it be elevated?

Born in Florence in 1919, the Negroni has endured for more than a century for good reason. Three ingredients, equal parts and it birthed a beautifully bitter, bold, unmistakable classic.

We kept everything we love about the classic at its heart — then took it somewhere distinctly made by The Backdrop ✨

Coconut oil-coated gin brings richness and texture. Hazelnut adds warmth, while Campari and vermouth preserve that familiar bittersweet backbone. Coffee beans and a roasted mist bring a darker, aromatic finish that unfolds before the first sip even begins.

We look beyond the obvious, exploring the flavours, aromas and textures that make an ingredient distinctive. The richness of something savoury. The freshness and fragrance of herbs. The deep, roasted character of coffee. The warm familiarity of toast.

Then comes our interpretation.

Those familiar notes are pulled apart, balanced and rebuilt through the language of cocktails — sometimes brighter, sometimes deeper but always completely unexpected, with a trace of the inspiration that started it all.

Because the most interesting flavours don’t always begin behind the bar. Sometimes, they begin with something you already know 💕
