Dear Parents and Carers,

We are pleased to share that our Saturday Empowerment Classes will be starting back for the new academic year.

TBT Sessions run from Saturday 12th September 2026 through to Saturday 17th October 2026

Our programme is completely free and is designed to support and empower young people aged 8 to 16 through education, creativity, and cultural enrichment. Each week, students take part in engaging and meaningful sessions that help build confidence, identity, and essential life skills.

What to Expect:

Participants will enjoy a wide range of activities, including

• Black History
• Law
• Financial Literacy
• Music
• Cooking
• Sports Science
• Educational Field Trips

We also provide a hot meal each week ( thanks to our sponsor @cummin.up ) and create a safe supportive environment where young people are encouraged to grow, express themselves, and thrive.

Dates:

Saturday 12th September 2026 until Saturday 17th October 2026

• Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
• Location: Woodpecker Youth Club, SE14
• Ages: 8–16
• Cost: Free (includes hot meal)

This week @amariraefdn delivered a
“Choosing Your Tribe” workshop with our 12-13 year olds at @thebaddatrust, as part of their “Together We Rise” project!

Real conversations about peer pressure, influence, and the choices young people are navigating every day.

At that age, it’s not always about knowing right from wrong... it’s about having the confidence to make the right decision when it matters.

This is where mindset starts to shift.

Renowned black author Leon Marshall will be leading the session. Time 12:00 to 3pm

As this is a special visit, all parents and carers are very welcome to stay and take part in what promises to be a powerful and engaging session for the whole family.

Happy New Year 2026!

We are delighted to confirm that our Saturday Empowerment Classes will be returning on Saturday, 7th February 2026, following the Christmas break.

About the Programme

Our classes are completely FREE and are designed to empower young people aged 8 to 16 through education, creativity, and cultural pride.

Each Saturday, participants take part in a wide range of engaging sessions, including

• Black History

• Law

• Financial Literacy

• Music

• Cooking

• Sports Science

• Educational Field Trips

We also provide a hot meal each week and create a nurturing, supportive environment where children are encouraged to embrace their identity, build self-esteem, and develop essential life skills.

Field Trips

Our terms include exciting field trips designed to inspire, educate, and give students new experiences outside of the Youth centre/classroom.

More details and permission forms will be shared soon, so please make sure your child is registered to avoid missing out!

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for all the donations and support for the Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund. Thanks to your generosity, we’ve filled several barrels and are still going strong! 💪🏾🇯🇲

Please note, due to the overwhelming amount of clothing donations, we will NO LONGER be accepting clothes.
Moving forward, we kindly ask that donations focus on…tinned food, bottled water, toiletries,
and building materials such as hammers, screws, saws, and electrical tools. Your help is truly making a difference! 💪🏾🛠️
