We thought it was about time we properly introduced the Bakery Art Gallery on Instagram. We are an Artist-run gallery, with a rolling selection of work curated by the artists themselves. It all began when I first stumbled across our Portobello Road space while planning a debut show. It had everything — a black cast-iron oven, an old granary, and buckets of character. I couldn’t let it go. What started as a one-off experiment turned into a full-blown gallery! Interest snowballed, artists joined in, and before long we had a second home in Camden Passage. But this is where it all began — the original Bakery, still full of that same energy, always changing, always buzzing. Come take a little walk through where it started.

We thought it was about time to properly introduce the Bakery Art Gallery on Instagram — this time, a little walk through our artist run Camden Passage space. Although this video’s already out of date (the walls never stay the same for long), it gives a glimpse into our second home — a lively, light-filled spot that grew from the whirlwind that started back on Portobello Road. By June 2023, what began as a one-off experiment had become something bigger — a community of artists curating together, sharing opportunities, and keeping things fresh every single day. Camden and Portobello now feed off each other — both spaces constantly evolving, full of new work and new ideas. Come have a wander through Camden with us.

Coming to the Bakery Art Gallery this October! Lower Slopes Gallery present ‘With Each Look’

Serving as both an introduction and an invitation, With Each Look brings together twelve exhibiting artists. The exhibition acts as a statement of intent for Lower Slopes’ future programme, offering a direct proposition to the viewer: look again for a deeper encounter.

While impactful at first glance, the works on display do not reveal themselves fully. They reward further attention: a closer look or a shift in perspective. As visitors move through the exhibition space, their gaze is intentionally unsettled. At times, the viewer assumes the role of voyeur while the subjects remain distracted or turned away; at others, the dynamic flips, creating the sensation of being watched by the artwork itself.

The Bakery Art Gallery, 6 Charlton Pl N1 8AJ
Private View: Thursday 22nd October 2026, 6-8pm
RSVP Required, to register for the guest list email Meryl Yankelson — meryl@lowerslopes.co.uk

Dates and opening times: 23rd October – 1st November 2026 Wednesday–Sunday, 11am–5pm
