Why are we celebrating #WorldAlgaeDay? Glad you asked. 🌊

We’re proud to be one of nine amazing beauty and personal care brands selected for @greenwaveorg’s x @macrooceans Kelp Collab Cohort, exploring the incredible potential of kelp in everyday products.

Earlier this year, @eliseburnettboyd and our founder Sheena traveled to Alaska to meet the kelp farmers, see regenerative ocean farming firsthand, and learn more about this pretty amazing ingredient. Why Kelp!?

Turns out, kelp is kind of a superpower. It grows incredibly fast, requires no land, freshwater, or fertilizer, and is naturally rich in minerals and antioxidants. Good for our oceans, with exciting potential for our hair.

We came home inspired and we’re now working on bringing kelp-powered haircare products to life at The Barb Shop.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing more from our Alaska adventure, the farmers we met, and what we’re creating.
