I fell in love with her. But it was too late. It was too late because I had already lost her. Not to another person, but to the tides of time and circumstance that carried us so far apart that no matter how loud I called her name, she couldn’t hear me anymore.

I still carry her with me, in every thought and breath, but she’s gone. That’s the tragedy of love, I suppose. We hold onto the ghost of what was, thinking it’s still real, when it’s already disappeared into memory.
