Hall of Flowers is coming back to New York — and it’s not trying to be everything to everyone. Returning to Pier 36 on October 21–22, Hall of Flowers is building a buyer-first trade show around one simple idea: put the right brands in the room with the right retailers and make product discovery actually work. “It’s really like buyers, buyers, buyers, buyers, buyers,” Hall of Flowers’ Rama Mayo told Honeysuckle. That philosophy shapes almost everything about the show. Licensed retailers are vetted. Exhibitors are reviewed. Booth dimensions are controlled. Sightlines, traffic flow and brand placement are all considered in advance. The floor isn’t designed to feel like a giant convention free-for-all — it’s engineered to make discovery easier and the conversations more valuable. And Hall of Flowers is just as interested in who isn’t in the room. “Unless you’re selling to a dispensary, we don’t want you there.” That means fewer distractions, less noise and more focus on the brands actually trying to get onto shelves. For Mayo, though, commerce is only part of the equation. New York’s market is still building its identity, and Hall of Flowers wants the room to reflect the culture around it — from established operators to smaller, influential local brands with real credibility. “We want to work with the cool local people.” We spoke with Mayo about Hall of Flowers’ fashion trade-show roots, the obsessive thinking behind the floor plan, the tension between culture and scale, and why one of the oldest ideas in business — merchants meeting merchants — may still be one of the most important.
