So, WE BOUGHT A LIVE + WORK!!! Randomly 4am one morning we saw a space that RARELY ever comes on the market, an opportunity to purchase a space that is zoned for both Commercial + Residential use. We text @e_martin5 at the same hour 4am hour 🙃 asking if we could see the space same day. Thankfully he’s as persistent as us, and not only did we see it, we put in an offer same day.

COMMUNITY- This HAŪS space speaks to what is very much apart of our life’s journey. We want the FREEDOM to OWN + OPERATE a space within our community that we can use how we see fit. No leases, No restrictions, No corporation deciding the future of our business in their establishment. We definitely plan to include YOU in this design journey as we reimagine the retail space and what it will become. Maybe it starts with collected vintage furniture from @2ndbdrm for a few months, and then for another few months becomes a showroom for my babes @aziza.handcrafted pieces 😜. Either way it’s a space we OWN for Creativity + Community to flow through. AND best of all it’s still in a BLACK + CREATIVE + DIVERSE community 💪🏾 #KirkWood

*Disclaimer- We both still INDIVIDUALLY own our other residences. I am a firm believer in having assets only in your name to start, and then other property’s can be collective. If you don’t have to sell your other places, that is my recommendation, but if that was the case we would not have proceeded. There is a comfort in knowing we have built things INDEPENDENT of each other, while still finding ways to #Collaborate. Not our first BILLBOARD?!!!. Truly honored at the impact our @soukbohemian & @nomadbysouk spaces have had.

To be recognized for intentional curation and design by @faire_wholesale is 🫶🏾. We were on the cover of their website, on billboards, mailers, commercials nationally. It was the sweetest thing to get all the “girl did I just see you” texts and calls 😂

These moments are about US as a collective. We need MORE spaces + places to be seen, to be loved, and to be inspired.

THANK YOU for embracing our journey, and supporting more than just the idea of community, but the energy needed to cultivate it.

This is 40🐆

Back in the place it all began. Initially I planned a month long trip to Italy, then tried Columbia, then a few other places, and nothing was working. We waited too long, most things were already booked since I forgot a lot of people are out for the summer.

At the last minute I remembered this place in the desert I wanted to stay at ( not in July though lol ) and they just so happened to have a few nights on the exact days I needed them.

I knew.

The last place I thought I needed to be,
was actually the only place I could be

Universe made it clear to return to where it all started 40 years ago, the Mōjave Desert in California. It has truly deep significance, especially this year. I have even more changes happening that stem from my time here.

I was called back to myself, as I am often, but this time it was different, it was louder and more forceful.

I came here
in July,
to the desert,
for a part of me to die and be left here.

You have to surrender,
To the heat.
To the terrain.
To the silence.
To the creatures.
To the way of the land, and what belongs here, and what doesn’t.

You’re significantly insignificant out here.

We have such a limited time in this iteration of life. All I ask, is that Spirit continue to guide me in alignment with my highest, truest self.

And that I continue to allow my actions to be through the intentions I have set forth on this journey 🙏🏾💫

A few months ago, I shot a campaign with a platform that’s been instrumental in supporting our growth as a small business.

They were shining a light on brands rooted in intentional curation and committed to uplifting artisans, both locally and globally.

The campaign will run here and across Europe, and I can’t wait to see the final images and billboards out in the world.

Opportunities to tell our stories, in our way, will always be meaningful. 🙏🏾💫

around the Haūs - Starting the process / design direction of our Live + Work space. This will be a slow…very slow…no rush process, since I need to move with ease this year. BUT, I do plan on sharing the mood boards, art collected, & inspiration behind it all.
