BCMUN News: Benedictine Military School has an inaugural delegation participating in the Savannah Model Arab League this year!

This two-day simulation, taking place at the Georgia Southern University Armstrong campus, is an immersive experience where students step into the shoes of real diplomats. Over these two days, our Cadets will debate pressing global issues, build coalitions, and draft resolutions. Some of our delegates represent official Arab League member nations, while some are representing non-member countries in observer roles, which gives them a unique opportunity to participate, observe diplomatic proceedings, author, draft, and sponsor resolutions and position papers, and contribute to the respective discussions from their country’s perspective.

Our Cadet delegates truly went the extra mile, dedicating part of their fall break to practicing, researching, and preparing for this event.

Thank you to NCUSAR Student Programs Manager Delaney Leslie for her hard work to organize this event, GSU event organizer and host professor Jacek Lubecki of Georgia Southern University for being a constant advocate for international relations and student engagement, and to the Savannah Council on World Affairs for its dedication to global education.

Our inaugural BCMUN delegates and their assigned countries are:

• 🇮🇳 India: Jake Suhr & Edwin Beecher
• 🇸🇴 Somalia: Kai McGuiness, Samuel Malloy, & Finn Kennedy
• 🇲🇷 Mauritania: Alex Sokolowski
• 🇦🇲 Armenia: Sebastian Balmes & Will Fleming
• 🇧🇷 Brazil: Claudio Sant’Anna deMello

A special thank you to Head MUN Advisor Sheila Crossley, our wonderful parent volunteers Mrs. Alaine Kennedy and Mr. Stephen Sokolowski ‘99, and our Headmaster Fr. Frank Ziemkiewicz, O.S.B., for being with our delegation this weekend. We are so incredibly proud of these young men and their dedication as they represent Benedictine! Go BCMUN!

Special thanks to Mrs. Kennedy, Mrs. Sarah Clark, and Mrs. Crossley for the photos. #thebc400 #Purpose #Savannah by @thebc400

As Hispanic Heritage Month comes to a close today, Benedictine Military School Spanish teacher Mr. Vladimir De Cardenas contributed to a successful Hispanic Heritage Festival at Georgetown K-8 School! Mr. De Cardenas taught salsa dancing lessons to the teachers, some middle school students, and even the principal! The celebration of cultures, traditions, music, food, and leadership were in the spotlight all morning.
Georgetown’s Spanish teacher, Mrs. Katherine Bernard, thanks Mr. De Cardenas for his time today and for making his part of the event so fun! Special thanks to Benedictine World Languages Department Chair and Spanish teacher Mrs. Heather Hawkins for the photos and information. #thebc400 #Purpose #Savannah by @thebc400

Marshall Pedigo, Benedictine Military School Class of 2028, and Mr. Mike Dillon ‘68 were at the Savannah Archives today and got to hold the original Gannam Day Flag that was presented to the Gannam family in March of 1942 by the City of Savannah! This is the flag that flew at their home right after SSG George K. Gannam ‘38 was killed in action. The Savannah Archives is bringing the original flag to display during BC’s Gannam Day memorial ceremony in December. Special thanks to BC’s Mr. Dustin White ‘14 for the photo and information. #thebc400 #Character #Spirituality #Purpose #Brotherhood by @thebc400
