ONE WEEK LATER ✨

…and we’re still feeling the energy of Lúmina.

PSA: The Tamayos are running a little late. ✈️📦

Our opening reception and curator conversation for “Making an Impression: Pioneering Latin American Printmakers” have been postponed due to an unexpected shipping delay affecting works by Rufino Tamayo.

While we wait for the Tamayos to arrive, the exhibition will still be on view this Saturday, September 26, featuring works by Jesús Rafael Soto, Regina Silveira, and Analia Saban, along with a temporary presentation introducing Tamayo’s artistic practice.

Send the Tamayos some good travel vibes in the comments. ✨

We’ll share a new celebration date as soon as it is confirmed.

In the meantime, visitors can also experience “New Narratives: Recent Acquisitions in Dialogue.” This special temporary installation, on view this Saturday, September 26, pairs recent acquisitions with works that have long been part of the Bechtler’s permanent collection, revealing fresh connections across material, form, subject matter, time, and place. by @thebechtler

For most of us, when we think about printmaking, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t a 3-D creation, or a print that sprawls across the architectural space you’re standing in. Well, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte is seeking to challenge those notions with their upcoming exhibition on Latin American printmakers. This week on Piedmont Arts, we chat with Dr. Katia Zavistovski about “Making an Impression: Pioneering Latin American Print Makers,” which will feature pieces by four artists from different generations whose work has transformed the possibilities of the genre. Una noche para vivir Latinoamérica a través de los sentidos.

Este sábado 19 de septiembre, VozEs tuvo el gusto de acompañar como media sponsor a “Lúmina” una celebración del modernismo latinoamericano en el marco del Hispanic Heritage Month.

La samba y los tambores de NC Brazilian Arts Project, junto a una muestra de capoeira, marcaron uno de los grandes momentos de la noche. La experiencia continuó entre arte, música y baile, los sabores peruano-japoneses de Yunta Nikkei y hasta retratos del aura que los asistentes pudieron llevarse a casa.

Lúmina también abrió camino a “Making an Impression: Pioneering Latin American Printmakers” la próxima exhibición dedicada al grabado latinoamericano.

Desde VozEs celebramos y documentamos los espacios donde nuestras expresiones culturales forman parte de la vida artística de Charlotte.
