Lance Oppenheim’s “Primetime” explores the complicated relationship between justice and entertainment through the behind-the-scenes drama of “To Catch a Predator”. The film invites viewers to consider two perspectives at once: the importance of holding people accountable and the ethical questions that arise when justice becomes a form of entertainment.

From spontaneous improvisation to a surprise rendition of “(I Left My Heart) in San Francisco,” Geordie Greep brought a genre-defying sound to the Castro Theater. Blending elements of jazz, samba, and Latin music with intricate solos and experimental arrangements, Greep and his band transformed the stage into a two-and-a-half-hour musical whirlwind.

From the energy of the mosh pit to the haunting final moments of “The Magician,” the performance offered an experience that extended beyond the music itself.

From Cape Town, South Africa, to neighborhoods across the Bay Area, music lovers traveled near and far to attend Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Now in its 25th year, the three-day festival continues to draw crowds with its mix of musical legends, emerging artists, and, above all, free admission.

In an era when concert and festival tickets can cost hundreds of dollars, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass offers something increasingly rare: a space where people can gather, discover new music, and connect through a shared love of music without the price of admission.

On Wednesday, Sept. 30, several UC Berkeley students assembled on Sproul Plaza for a demonstration in support of Lupe Gallegos-Diaz, director of Chicanx Student Development (CLSD), the Latinx Student Resource Center (LSRC), and lecturer. Students, CLSD interns, ASUC senators and alumni publicly criticized university administrators for what they described as a continued lack of transparency regarding CLSD and LSRC programming.

While the administration has reaffirmed its commitment to Latinx students and programming, CLSD interns and students continue to call for clearer communication and answers about the future of the centers.

Visit 🔗theberkeleypulse.com to read more, where you can also find resources related to Lupe Gallegos-Diaz and the CLSD/LSRC.
