How does your dog get in and out of your SUV? 🚙🐾If you have a giant breed, you know the “jump” is the part of the ride we dread the most. We stopped letting Millie and Finn jump out of the Bronco a long time ago—it’s just not worth the risk to their joints and backs.These foldable stairs have been a total game-changer for us. Some dogs would walk into a room like they own it. Millie’s out here trying to become one with the smallest space available.For a long time I read that as something being wrong with her. It’s not. She’s just wired differently, and once we quit expecting her to act like the other dogs, life got easier. We stopped dragging her toward things that overwhelmed her. We started paying attention to what she actually needed.If you know someone with a dog like Millie, one who needs a little more patience, a little more space, a little more you, share this with them. This is our full pack, and apparently our furniture budget was a waste.Four Bernese Mountain Dogs, one couch, and a whole house behind them nobody’s using. One year ago, Finn was a 4.5-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog just starting therapy dog training. Here’s who he is now.Four weeks of boarded training to start, then continued on and off with another training group throughout the year. POV: this is what happens when you leave the door open for two seconds.I ran back inside to grab something I forgot, and I don’t even know why I’m surprised to come back and find Millie in the driver’s seat. Much less Finn right behind her. That’s just Bernese Mountain Dog life though, the second they hear me grab my purse and key fob, they’re convinced they’re coming too. Two giant dogs and zero hesitation. She picks her moments with him. Road trips are always one of them.She didn’t exactly roll out the welcome mat when he came home as a puppy. He was a lot. He still is. She’s a senior dog who knows what she likes and at a little over a year old his energy hasn’t slowed down much. There are days she’d rather have her own space and that’s fair. But something about being in the back of the Bronco together changes things. She just lets him.
