As someone who’s made a living in Western fashion and holds a WPRA card, I feel confident speaking on this: the judging and criticizing of NFR outfits needs to stop. I’ve always loved fashion—being different, creating looks, expressing myself. Yesterday I felt more fabulous than ever, and it reminded me what dressing up is really about: feeling your best self. But as we hit the halfway mark of the NFR, I’ve seen so many posts tearing down people for “not looking Western enough,” “doing too much,” or wearing something you personally wouldn’t wear. And honestly… why? Here’s the truth: If there is one industry that could get cancelled fast in 2025 by people outside our world, it’s rodeo. We don’t need to divide ourselves from the inside over outfits when the pressure is already coming from the outside. Most people don’t even know where their food comes from anymore. They don’t understand our culture, our way of life. So if someone chooses to embrace Western fashion—good! I’d rather see them participate than criticize our lifestyle. And let’s not forget… behind many of those outfits are small businesses, makers, and creators keeping Western fashion alive in America. At the end of the day, we only live once. Wear what makes you feel beautiful. Let others do the same. Fashion is art, expression, confidence, and fun. Cheer people on. Let them sparkle. Let them love the lifestyle. Because supporting Western fashion helps protect the Western way of life. by @thebijouxfab
