On the planet Nola, archaeologists discover a structure.👉Nola was once home to an advanced civilization that disappeared without a trace, making the discovery of the structure a major event.👉A team of four archaeologists—two professors (Harald Løvenskiold and Jovana Kovacic) and two students (Amelia Rask and Cameron Riley)—set out to a neighboring planet to gather information about the lost civilization.👉The inhabitants of the neighboring world, the Zohranis, reveal that the Nolean civilization was highly advanced in the field of mind manipulation.👉Before the expedition can return, they learn that the Earth Forces have taken an interest in their research.👉By this time, Earth is fully specialized in medical secrets and advanced technologies. As an observer, Kaito Kuronuma is sent to monitor them.👉Amelia Rask is in danger, as she possesses all the information obtained from the Zohranis. Chapter Forty SixCameron sat silently by the window. The late afternoon sun cast long golden streaks across the floor, but he had long since stopped looking at the research notes in his hands. His thoughts kept drifting back to the same memories.To those few weeks when he and Jovana had pretended to be a couple.Coffee shops, long walks, dinners together—on the surface, they looked like dates. In reality, they had been working side by side, trying to unravel the mystery of the Nolan device. Back then, he had believed that was what he truly needed: the thrill of an unsolved mystery, the excitement of discovery, the challenge of solving a puzzle together.Now he knew he had been wrong.It wasn't the codes he missed. Nor the notes. Nor the analyses that stretched late into the night.It was Jovana.He missed the way she questioned everything with genuine curiosity. The way she could still smile in the middle of the most difficult problem. The way her dark hair fell softly over her shoulders. The warmth of her hand. That strange, tingling feeling her mere presence awakened in him.Cameron let out a slow, quiet breath.*Maybe I've fallen in love with her. No... Chapter Forty Five Jovana was sitting in the university café between lectures, reviewing her notes, when a shadow fell across her table. She looked up to see Kaito Kuronuma, an Earth Forces agent."We need to talk.""No, we don't," she replied. "I'm not part of the research team anymore, remember?""We've reached a dead end."Jovana simply shrugged and returned to her notes."I need your help."She laughed bitterly."You? The man who kept insisting I was never worthy of Ren?""I just...""No. You wanted an obedient Japanese wife for your brother. Someone who would sacrifice her own life for his. I could never be that person.""I was afraid you'd ruin him!" Kaito shot back."We loved each other. We just met at the wrong time. Neither of us was willing to abandon our career, and we couldn't find another path. But no one will ever mean to me what your brother did."She turned away, refusing to let him see the tears gathering in her eyes.For the first time, Kaito questioned everything. He had spent years believing Ren was flawless, never considering that perhaps Jovana hadn't been the only one at fault."I'm not coming back because of you, Kaito. You'll never make up for everything you did to tear us apart."He lowered his head."But Cameron Riley and I managed to solve another piece of the puzzle. We believe both devices are Nolan... and they may have been built for the same purpose. If we're right, they could lead us to Ren."Kaito looked up in disbelief."One more thing. Notes For The Neural Loom: What Happened After That?The search probe glided silently around the Nolan artifact. Its red searchlight swept slowly across the ancient structure before inching closer and closer to the members of the expedition. Yet it passed by them as though they did not exist.Ren Kuronuma instinctively stepped forward, reaching out toward the probe's smooth metallic hull.The spacecraft's instruments continued to display the same readings they had for the past several minutes: the probe's radio signal was coming through perfectly. Again and again, the crew transmitted their distress call. According to the console, every transmission left the antenna exactly as intended, yet no reply ever came. The search probe remained on its preprogrammed course, methodically scanning what, to its sensors, was nothing more than empty space.For a brief moment, the beam of the searchlight fell directly across Ren's face. He froze. If the camera was functioning properly, it had to be looking straight at him. Long seconds passed in absolute silence before the probe's sensor array slowly turned away, as though it had found nothing at all.Ren watched the machine drift farther into the darkness. He knew that, at that very moment, the people on Earth were seeing a lonely alien artifact suspended in the void of space. Where the laws of physics cease to existChapter Forty Four**Astrophysicist Kuronuma Ren's Log**As we approached the object, we initially assumed our instruments were malfunctioning. The displays began to flicker, the navigation system lost its bearings for a few seconds, and then everything happened at once. A searing pain tore through our heads, as if something were trying to split our skulls open from the inside. Our vision blurred, the lights stretched into long streaks, and then everything went dark.I have no idea how much time passed before I regained consciousness. The others were waking up just as disoriented, and no one could explain what had happened. The instruments were operational, yet nothing behaved the way it should have. The radio signals were... wrong. They sounded as though they weren't coming from the present. We heard fragments of our own earlier transmissions, and at times, replies to messages we had not even sent yet. Time itself seemed to be unraveling around us.The sphere was no longer the same. Its outline had become indistinct, as though it did not exist in a single location. At times it appeared perfectly sharp, only to dissolve into a wavering blur a moment later, as if space itself could no longer determine where it truly was.We decided to deploy a probe. The small craft launched without incident, and its camera feed remained perfectly clear until it reached the sphere's immediate vicinity. A single flash. The signal was gone. It did not explode. It did not drift away. It simply vanished.That was the moment we realized we had not discovered an unknown artifact. We had encountered something that did not obey the laws of reality as we understood them. None of them ever came backNotes For The Neural Loom: The Expedition On the outer edge of the Alpha Centauri system, during a routine reconnaissance mission around a barren, uninhabited planet, Earth sensors detected a mysterious object. Suspended motionless in the void of space, the structure lay far too close to the planet Nola to ignore the possibility that it might have been created by the long-vanished civilization.The discovery sparked tremendous interest among the Earth Forces and the Scientific Council. For months, the mission was meticulously planned, with the finest pilots, engineers, and researchers carefully selected for the expedition. The crew underwent extensive specialized training to prepare for every known hazard, while the mission itself had a single objective: to observe and document the enigmatic object.At first, the expedition unfolded exactly as planned. Radio transmissions remained clear, and every report from the spacecraft indicated that all systems were functioning normally. However, the moment the vessel reached the immediate vicinity of the drifting structure, all communication ceased without warning. No distress signal was ever transmitted, nor were there any signs of an explosion or mechanical failure. The expedition simply vanished.Despite an exhaustive search lasting many months, not the slightest trace of either the spacecraft or its crew was ever found. The incident was ultimately classified as unexplained, and the region surrounding the object was permanently closed to all further missions.
