POSTS STORIES REELS

In honor of today being the last day of BHM, I wanted to share something that has been keeping me black, creative and happy in life right now. In January 2025, I joined a book club with a bunch of other black women where we read books by us for us. These are some of the books we have read over the past year and some months and every time I would finish a book, I think to myself “a type x would absolutely love this!” So here we you go! Happy reading!! And happy Black History Month!

If you’re a black woman and reading more was on your new years resolutions list for 2026 and you’re looking to join a virtual book club, check out @konsoncollective

👉🏼 Your personality doesn’t exist in a vacuum — it’s shaped by culture, race, gender, religion, and family stories. 🌍

In this new series, I teamed up with Dayo Ajanaku, founder of @theblackenneagram
, to explore how cultural layers impact each Enneagram type. Each slide unpacks how identity, upbringing, and systemic forces interact with our personality patterns.

Take a moment to read, pause, reflect, and breathe. These cultural layers name real struggles people carry every day—ones that are too often overlooked instead of met with empathy and understanding. 🤍

These beautiful, custom-made illustrations were created by Dayo herself. 😮 Head over to @theblackenneagram
to see more of her brilliant work — she’s a digital creator and full-time lawyer based in San Francisco. Go give her a follow and some love!

Birth order affects how we show up in life, almost as much as our Enneagram types. We were discussing this and thought to reflect on and ask people in our lives how each Enneagram type shows up depending on birth order! This collaborative post was so much fun to create. Thank you to everyone who contributed their experiences for this post. Now it’s your turn, how do you see your type and birth order mixing?

@theblackenneagram is a digital sanctuary with the goal of increasing self awareness, promoting self actualization, growth and community health specifically in the Black community.

Be sure to follow @NineShapes. Nine Shapes combines the mystery of art and the mystery of human personality through asking questions. Nine Shapes has also created an Enneagram game card where each type is given questions to facilitate conversations around the Enneagram. Check out that page to purchase the cards! by @theblackenneagram

I’ve taken up a yoga and journaling practice and during my shavasana, I was reflecting on my day and realized that I often don’t feel safe in most spaces and that feeling causes me to not show up the way that I most desire out of fear. The question, “well, would who you be if you knew were safe? How would you wanna be? How would you show up?” Came to me and made me really reflect on authenticity and the essence of being safe in one’s own body first. I share this post in hopes that you won’t just look at your own enneagram type question but ask yourself all 9 questions? Who would you be if you knew you were good, loved, worthy, special, secure, competent, free, safe and important? How would you show up in the world? What would you do? 🙏🏾🫶🏾 happy journaling by @theblackenneagram

If you haven’t tapped into the show Queenie on Hulu, you’re missing it. I’ve really been in my UK bag all around so this was an amazing watch. I began reading the book a while ago before I knew it would be adapted but couldn’t finish bc it was very triggering. The show is masterfully done and really captures the black girl experience even here in the US. 10/10 would recommend. Would love to hear thoughts on the types! There were so many characters but these felt like the most important ones. 🤍🫶🏾 sound off in the comments if you’ve watched it and your thoughts by @theblackenneagram

JUST FOR FUN AS ALWAYS! Haven’t been on tik tok in a minute and thought it could be fun to get back into it and connect my favorite ones to the enneagram! 🫶🏾 by @theblackenneagram

First real post in a minute and it had to be this! Been in my UK bag lately with both tv shows and music and was introduced to this series last month. I fell in love with it so I have to share! 10/10 can’t wait for season 2.

I’m creating these types off of the vibes from season 1 so maybe character development in season 2 will change my mind. Would love to hear thoughts on whether you agree! Here are some of mine.

1. It would be easy to type Tazer as an 8 but I don’t think he’s motivated strength and independence. He leans more as someone who is motivated by loyalty and security based on his gang affiliation, his reaction to his mothers abandonment and his skeptical nature.

2. Rodney was the hardest to type. His backstory is incredibly heartbreaking and you can tell that he masks his pain in variety of ways but the pain is deep. He only shared in in the presence of the one who hurt him, his mother. Lots of mother wounds in this show!

3. Micheal’s behavior throughout the show screamed type 9 to me. There are too many examples to count but the fact that he’s tasked with bringing the group together is evidence enough. The manner in which he even goes about it is very type 9. Really interested to hear any alternative types y’all would give Micheal because type 9 seemed to be the best fit to me.

4. Sabrina felt very 2 to me. From her job choice, to her reaction when she hurt the two men- Sabrina is as 2 as they com. Her compassion and empathy is through the roof even for people who mean harm towards her.

5. Andre was a tough one to type. He’s not an obvious type 1 because he breaks the rules quite a bit but you can tell that he has a strong moral compass. His relationship with his son also demonstrates a commitment to integrity and good behavior. He just wants to do and be good but if being good gets in the way of his doing right for his son- he will choose the right thing and not the good thing. For example, should he have taken he money after he punched the ATM? No. But his son was hungry… it was the right thing to do. As a one, I resonated with that.

EXCITED TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS! Share in the comments below. Let’s have a chat 🫶🏾 by @theblackenneagram

Hello to all the OG followers and welcome to all the new folks!!!! As you can see I’ve been away for a LONG time! I’ve been in school for the past three years and I am currently on the last leg of this journey (TAKING THE CALIFORNIA BAR EXAM!! 😭). All prayers, good energy/vibes and good luck wishes are greatly appreciated! My hope and wish is that once this part of the journey is done, that I can come back and continue to accompany you all on your journeys to self actualization in a fun, relevant and informative way! For now, all I can say is welcome to all the new folks, thank you to all the OGs and I will see you soon!

Fun little late night project after watching a few podcast episodes by Kizzle over at @expressyourselfblackman. All affirmations are from his page! Obviously these affirmations apply to everyone regardless of race and gender so take them as needed
.
This year one of my “resolutions” is to actively divest from the gender wars going on in the black community by unfollowing toxic pages that cause division and focusing more on pages that uplift both black women and men. Kizzle’s page is one of those for me. If you have the same goal and want to give your nervous system a break, give his page a follow.
.
No I’m not “back” but here and there, I’ll probably be sharing my random spurts of inspiration and creativity until I figure out what exactly having this Instagram account means to me and how I want to move forward. My body and mind is still in winter so I’m giving myself time to reset rather than forcing myself to start simply because it’s a new year. Hope you’re taking care of yourself and Happy New Year. 🫶🏾 by @theblackenneagram

*Typo alert: Type 8 should say “making their date pass certain tests before agreeing to meet”. 😁

Shorty has been MIA for a minute but shorty is back… for like two seconds lol. Shoutout to the ladies over at @enneagramfortheculture podcast for giving me this idea! I had the pleasure of being on their podcast for season 3 (which you should tune into by the way) and they gave me the wonderful idea of thinking about how each type approaches dating! Obviously this list is not exhaustive so add yours to the comments!! I wanna hear how you (as a type __) approach or approached dating!
