We had a wonderful time at breakfast with Kris & JJ and Kristie’s mom!

It’s crazy that we had a table right away and there was practically no one in the restaurant while the 4th of July parade happened just a couple blocks away.

We enjoyed the food and the company while celebrating America & 🇺🇸 the 4th of July. Franklin is so Americana we are grateful to be here.

The littlest things can make a birthday better. Like inviting you over to get an electronic chair massage and a mimosa. We wish it were a boujie spa 🧖‍♀️ 🤑, but you probably wouldn’t enjoy the company as much.

Anybody want me to decorate their porch for fall? 🍂😂

Fair warning: I may not finish until New Year’s… but LOOK HOW CUTE IT’LL BE.

Seriously though, I had way too much fun putting this together. Decorating is one of those things that makes me ridiculously happy, even when my back is reminding me that I am no longer 25. 😂

So if you’ve ever thought, “I wish somebody would just come make my porch cute,” I’m your girl.

Just… don’t give me a deadline. 😂

Home sweet home for this guy! ❤️ And honestly, we have a whole new Dad.

Tonight we both tried something new. Jen made him tilapia with rice and black beans for dinner, and then for dessert, he agreed to test out Greek yogurt. And y’all… he really liked it! 😂

He said that all this time he’s been missing out on yogurt because of his lactose intolerance. So now we’re wondering: Does anyone else with lactose intolerance find that Greek yogurt is a little easier on the tummy? Greek yogurt can have less lactose than regular yogurt, but we’re curious about everyone’s personal experience!

Either way, the baton now goes to Darrell for the evening caregiver shift. 💙 We’re putting those “med pass” skills our amazing nurse friends have taught us over the years to good use and helping get him settled back into his medication schedule.

One meal, one yogurt cup, one med pass, and one day at a time.

Throwback to Darrell in 7th grade, 1984–85. 😂

I found this old Chandler Junior High School ID and had to share it because LOOK AT THIS KID!

This picture doesn’t really give us much information about Darrell’s fashion sense back then. No legendary outfit. No Adidas tracksuit. No fresh sneakers. No giant 80s glasses. Just a seventh-grade Darrell looking straight into the camera like he had places to be and absolutely no time for foolishness. 😂

But what it does give us is a pretty cool little snapshot of the kid he used to be and just how much he has changed over the years.

1984 was a whole different world. The Walkman was the playlist. Cassette tapes were currency. MTV actually played music videos. Everybody was trying to be fresh, fly, cool, bad, dope or whatever the appropriate word was that week. 😂

And somewhere in Chandler, Arizona, this young man was probably saying something along the lines of, “Man, that’s wack!” or “That’s dope!” while somebody else was trying to convince him that their new kicks were the freshest thing on campus. Maybe he was feeling “all that and a bag of chips.” 😂

I can’t tell you exactly what seventh-grade Darrell was listening to or wearing from this little ID photo, but knowing the Darrell I know today, I’m pretty sure that personality was already in there somewhere.

I’ve been seeing the whole #BackTo80s trend popping up everywhere, and I couldn’t resist sharing an ACTUAL picture of me from 1984. 😂

Fourth grade Jen was SERIOUS about this pink romper. It was the shorts-type romper, and I’m pretty sure we got it at Kmart. Pink + geometric shapes = basically haute couture in 1984. 😂

And believe it or not, my sticker albums were FULL. TO. THE. BRIM. I had stickers for DAYS. ✨

Also… this haircut. 🤦🏼‍♀️ A public service announcement from my 9-year-old self: STAY AWAY FROM BANGS. 😂 My hair was pulled back in a ponytail, and somehow I STILL managed to look like a boy. I have questions.

But can we talk about the PICTURE-IN-PICTURE EFFECT?! How RAD is that?! That was peak ’80s photography right there.
