Hey everybody! Quick house update:
• We moved in!🎉 I am still trying to tell myself everything will work out as we live in a construction zone 😂. Anyone else know the feeling?!

• The kitchen is almost done minus two countertops, trim and baseboards. I couldn’t be more excited!
• We have a functional bathroom that is almost done. I will show it soon! 💕🎉
• We do have to replace a water heater but we figured that would be on the horizon soon.
• When installing the kitchen sink, we ran into a blockage in the drain. We had a plumber come and he had to replace about 10 inches of pipe due to grime build up from the previous owners. It was absolutely disgusting.
• I am in LOVE with the walnut countertops.
• My overall feelings are of gratitude for this space which is our own, anxious energy to get it all done, and excitement for what the continued transformation will bring! For the house, and for us. 💕✨

How to make a walnut countertop: Part One.
This is how I learned the word biscuit has multiple meanings and isn’t just something I love to eat. 😂 It is also a piece of wood that is used with plate joiners.. who knew?!

Kitchen Update!✨ : We have cabinets!! Hallelujah!! I am in love with these Shaker cabinets we got from RTA cabinets. Gene put them all together and has installed them. He is my miracle worker. I am so grateful for all his hard work. 💕💕 Scroll through to see where we started. It blows my mind when I look back and see how much work we have done.

I am so excited we are finally putting our flooring down!! I feel like it has been such a long journey to this point! I’m pretty such I aged a thousand years in the last year and a half since we started this. 😆 We had to replace some subfloor and Gene had to work some magic in a few areas where the floor wasn’t quite level. And work his magic he did! Everything is going in pretty well!

Flooring…no one tells you how much of a headache it is to take flooring out of a house. We ripped out what felt like miles of carpet and tack strips early on in the remodel, and left two spots with the original floor.. until this last weekend. We finally took the floor out of the foyer and found it had three different floors.

In the end, we opted not to rip up the last floor because it had a million staples in it and it would have taken 5,000 years to get them all out 😆. We hammered all of them in and will out the new floor on top of it.

I can’t wait to get our new flooring in! It’s Spring Birch from the Payton Collection and should pair well with the black kitchen cabinets.

I’m so excited…and yes… we will be doing it ourselves so wish us luck. Good thing, Gene can do pretty much anything. 😘😘

This is the master bathroom. We completely gutted it and ripped out the closets on the other side of the wall in order to make room for a separate shower and bathtub. It’s definitely been a labor of love but we are finally getting to the fun part of putting in the floor, decor and Gene will be building our vanity. I can’t wait to show you all the completed product!! ❤️❤️🎉

Struggling to get through the demo?

I’ve got a secret..🤫

Sheetrock is heavy and hard to rip out!😅
Watch until the end to see the entire basement tear out!
.
This one was a doozy and we had some family come help us tear out all the Sheetrock. So so grateful!!❤️
We filled up a 30 yard dumpster.. it was bananas 🍌.
But, it felt so good to get out the old, smelly Sheetrock to prepare for the new!

A little more about us…
We met online.. shocker these days, I know.
But when we met, he lived in AZ and I lived in KS.
He came to visit me a few weeks after we met and at the end of the visit he asked me to be his girlfriend..
I didn’t answer him right away and took two more days to give him an answer..
I wasn’t sure how it all work out, but I felt really good about him..
So I said yes! We dated long distance for a while, lots of late night chats, Marco polos, and weekend visits.
.
We decided we wanted to be forever and got married four months later!
We have eight beautiful kids between us who we love dearly and our life is so full. I couldn’t be more grateful for him and the life we are creating.

This picture is from our first family vacation with all the kids. We went to Yellowstone and it was an amazing time.
