All in a day's work!

We were a SURPRISE trio for our wedding at @kingfamilyweddings today! The mom of the bride asked us just a few weeks ago if we still had availability because she wanted to surprise her daughter and son in-law with live music! The best gift ever, if you ask me!

Then Katie came home and finished an arrangement for a wedding next weekend! It's not the first time we've done video game music but this one is going to be so fun! 🎮🎮

Just because there are strings in the original doesn’t mean it will translate well to a string ensemble. The best pop arrangements for strings have a clear melodic line. While we can and HAVE made arrangements of rap songs work, they don’t have quite the same impact. Keep that in mind when moving strings from background texture to doing the heavy lifting!

Listen to the lyrics of your selections! Obviously, our arrangements won’t have words, but your guests will recognize them and start singing along in their heads. Are you cool with having expletives? Songs about violence or cheating?? While the strings erase those words, it doesn’t mean the song still doesn’t include them. Just keep that in mind before selecting!

We sometimes learn more about what kind of music to play for your event by what you don’t like than what you do. Don’t worry! We won’t be offended if you tell us not to play a certain artist or genre. This is your day - we’ll play what you want not what others have liked in the past.

Trust us to read the room during cocktail hour. Is the vibe more chill, elegant, and refined? We’ll play songs to match. Are people totally letting loose and getting party-ready? We’ll crank out some bangers! After playing nearly 1000 weddings, we know a thing or two about music choices.

Digitizing our extensive and expanding repertoire of hundreds of works is another way we can better serve our clients! With our music really accessible online to our musicians and ready to play on iPads, last minute changes or requests will be as easy to accommodate as a few swipes!

Also, eliminating paper printing costs keeps our pricing down and eliminates longer pauses between pieces during the processional - no worries about papercliping or flying pages on windy days!

Here's a little story about how The Bloom Trio grew from an idea in Maria's kitchen, so we didn't have to play as many gigs far away from home, into a state-wide, award-winning business. We're so grateful for all the couples who have worked with us over the years - especially the ones who took a chance on us early on. We love working with our fellow wedding professionals who make it a joy, each and every weekend - even when it's hot, cold, or delayed! And most importantly, we can't wait to create more music with our fellow musicians in the years to come!

Hey there! We've been a little quiet over on IG, but don't let that fool you! We've already started our 2026 season and are ready for the wedding season to start in earnest in just a few weeks.

2026 is a big year for us. It marks the start of our 15th season, providing the highest quality, professional music for all of life's special events. During that time, we've gone from 4 events in our first year to 98 in 2025! We've played hundreds of weddings, commemoration of life ceremonies, holiday parties, music festivals, music conferences, candlelight concerts, and community fundraisers.

It's truly a joy to bring the talents we possess and have honed as professional musicians to our clients, our fellow wedding professionals, and our community! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for filling these last 15 years with so much joy - we can't wait to see where it goes next!

I'm pretty sure this was the first time in the nearly 900 weddings we've played that a couple did a secret handshake after their first kiss!!! So cool!!!

We also debuted 4 new tunes over our 3 weddings that including Best Friend by 50 Cent and Laugh Now Cry Later by Drake!

When we say we can play anything, we mean we can play ANYTHING!

Happy Birthday to Bloom Trio manager extraordinaire @tom8765309 !!!!

Did you Katie and Tom played as stand partners in the Roanoke Symphony for years together before he joined the Bloom team as violist/violinist and manager??

This is a pic from years ago - a lot less gray (for me!!!l) and far fewer weddings planed! Tom still plays with the RSO so go watch him play if you're in the area!
