If your first response to “Who are you?” is anything other than who you are in Christ, you’ve probably built your identity on something that cannot save you.

I used to think identity was something I had to discover. The world tells us to look within ourselves or to the stars—to let a zodiac sign, a personality label, or our past explain who we are. You hear people say, “I’m a Cancer, that’s just who I am,” as though the position of the stars has the authority to define the person God created.

But I’ve realized something: my birthday doesn’t determine my identity—my new birth in Christ does.

When I gave my life to Jesus, He didn’t call me to become a better version of an old label. He called me to become a new creation. My identity is no longer rooted in what culture says about me, what I say about myself, or what astrology claims about my personality. It’s rooted in what God has declared through His Son.

The stars were created to point to the glory of God, not to replace His voice. I refuse to let creation tell me who I am when the Creator already has.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17

I don’t want my life to be recognized by a zodiac sign. I want it to be recognized by the One who made me new.

The moment I stopped making my past, my pain, and my failures bigger than the cross, everything changed. Jesus isn’t just strong enough to comfort you—He’s powerful enough to transform you.

He’s bigger than your past.
Bigger than your pain.
Bigger than your fear.
Bigger than your anger.
Bigger than your sin.
Even bigger than the version of yourself you’re still trying to hold onto.

There is nothing in your life that stands above the authority of Christ unless you place it there. Stop magnifying your struggle and start magnifying your Savior.

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life... nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” — Romans 8:38–39

I spent too much of my life looking for refuge in things that could never protect me. I ran to distractions, achievement, comfort, and people, hoping they would give me the peace only God could. But every refuge outside of Christ eventually collapses.

Now I’m learning that following Jesus isn’t about earning His love—it’s about responding to it. Obedience is no longer a burden when your heart has found its home. I don’t serve Him because I’m afraid of losing Him. I serve Him because He became the refuge that never failed me.

When the Lord becomes your hiding place, worship stops being performance and becomes the natural response of a heart that has been rescued.

“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” — Proverbs 18:10

“We love, because He first loved us.” — 1 John 4:19

There is nothing embarrassing about a life surrendered to Jesus. The only tragedy is knowing Him and pretending you don’t.

I’ve spent enough of my life caring about what people thought of me. Wondering if speaking about Jesus too much would push people away, make me seem different, or cost me opportunities. But the more I read Scripture, the more I realized that Jesus never called me to protect my reputation—He called me to deny myself.

How could I be ashamed of the One who wasn’t ashamed to carry a cross for me? How could I hide the name of the One who met me in my brokenness, called me out of my sin, and gave me a new life I could never earn?

The world boldly displays what is temporary without a second thought. I refuse to hide the One who gave me eternity.

“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed when He comes in His glory...” — Luke 9:26

I don’t want people to remember my name. I want them to know the name above every name. If following Jesus makes me different, then different is exactly where I want to be.

Never apologize for making your life about Jesus.

The world never asks people to tone down their sin—only their faith. They’ll celebrate the posts that glorify self, encourage indulgence, and normalize rebellion. But when your life begins to reflect Christ, you’re suddenly told you’re “too extreme,” “too religious,” or “doing too much.”

Jesus never called us to blend in. He called us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him. A cross has never been a symbol of comfort—it has always been a symbol of surrender.

I’ve learned that following Jesus will cost you things this world can’t understand. It may cost your reputation, relationships, or approval. But I’d rather lose the acceptance of the world than lose my boldness for Christ.

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you.” — John 15:18

Keep standing. Keep speaking. Keep living for Jesus. The cross was never meant to be comfortable, but it will always be worth carrying.

Never apologize for filling your page with your walk with God.

People applaud the nightlife, celebrate the partying, and rarely question someone posting themselves getting drunk every weekend. But the moment you start talking about repentance, holiness, and Jesus, suddenly you’re “doing too much.”

Jesus told us this would happen.

> “If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you.” — John 15:18

I’ve learned that I’d rather be misunderstood for speaking about Christ than accepted for staying silent. My testimony isn’t something I need to tone down to make others comfortable. If Jesus wasn’t ashamed to hang on a cross for me, I won’t be ashamed to speak His name.

Never apologize for glorifying the One who saved your life. The world may celebrate temporary pleasures, but I’ll keep pointing people to eternal hope.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately…

For some people, I may be the only Bible they ever “read.” Not because I’m perfect, but because they may never open the Scriptures for themselves. They’ll watch how I respond when I’m wronged, how I treat people who can’t offer me anything, how I carry myself when no one is applauding, and whether my life actually reflects the One I claim to follow.

That thought humbles me.

If someone only knew Jesus through the way I live, would they see His love? His holiness? His patience? His mercy? Would they see someone who forgives, serves, and speaks truth with grace… or would they only see someone wearing the name “Christian”?

I don’t want people to simply know what I believe. I want them to encounter Christ through the fruit He is producing in me. My life should point beyond me and toward the cross.

Lord, make my life a living testimony that leads people to You, not to myself.

“You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men.” — 2 Corinthians 3:2–3

“Let your light shine before others in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

The world teaches men to be loud. Scripture teaches men to be steadfast.

I’ve learned that maturity isn’t found in how much attention you get—it’s revealed in how you carry yourself when no one is watching.

Stay calm and controlled in every situation. Your emotions should never be your master.

Build discipline through daily routines. Character isn’t created in big moments; it’s forged in the ordinary ones.

Keep your goals private and work silently. Not everything God is building in you needs an audience before it’s finished.

Train your mind and your body consistently. A strong body without a renewed mind is still unstable.

Use your time carefully and avoid distraction. Every “yes” to something unimportant is often a “no” to what God has actually called you to.

A mature man isn’t driven by impulse, applause, or emotion. He’s led by conviction, consistency, and the fear of the Lord.

“Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13–14

I used to think following Jesus would bring peace with everyone around me. Instead, I found myself losing relationships I never thought I’d lose. At first, I questioned if I had done something wrong. Then I read Jesus’ own words.

“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword...” — Matthew 10:34–36

Jesus wasn’t calling us to violence, He was preparing us for the reality that truth divides. The gospel forces a decision. Some will embrace Christ, and others will reject Him. Sometimes that division happens in the very places we expected to find the most comfort even within our own families.

I’ve learned that not every separation is evidence that you’re off course. Sometimes it’s the cost of refusing to compromise. Loving Jesus above everything else will expose what was built on convenience instead of conviction.

This isn’t an excuse to be harsh or argumentative. We’re still called to love, forgive, and pray for those who oppose us. But we should never be surprised when obedience to Christ creates distance between us and those who don’t want Him.

Following Jesus may cost you relationships, but I’d rather lose the approval of people than lose my devotion to the One who gave everything for me.

I used to think obedience started with discipline—that if I could just try harder, stay more consistent, and have enough self-control, I’d finally get it right.

But the Lord has been showing me something different.

Discipline may shape our habits, but obedience begins much deeper. It begins where love takes root. When I truly see who Jesus is and remember what He’s rescued me from, saying “yes” to Him stops feeling like a burden and starts becoming my response to His grace.

There are still days my flesh wants comfort over conviction. There are still moments where obedience costs me something. But every time I choose Him, I’m reminded that He’s never asking me to lose—He’s teaching me to trust.

Real discipline isn’t white-knuckling my way through Christianity. It’s daily dying to myself because I love the One who first loved me.

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” — John 14:15

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” — Philippians 2:13

Obedience isn’t where my relationship with Christ begins. It’s where a heart transformed by His love naturally goes.

Losing my father was one of the hardest things I’ve ever walked through. For a long time I questioned why God would allow it. I wrestled with the pain, the anger, and the emptiness.

Looking back now, I can’t say I know every reason why it happened. But I do know this: God met me in my brokenness. And as much as I loved my father, I also see how the path I was headed down could have led me somewhere far from Christ.

I don’t worship my earthly father—I honor him. I carry the good with gratitude, I acknowledge the broken with honesty, and I trust that Jesus alone deserves my complete devotion.

If losing my father became the very place where God called me out of darkness and into His marvelous light, then I refuse to let my pain be wasted.

Honor your earthly father, but don’t build your identity on him. Build it on Christ.

“Honor your father and your mother...” — Exodus 20:12

“You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.” — Matthew 4:10

Jesus didn’t replace my father.

He became the Father my soul had always needed.
