I just finished the book and I honestly miss reading it .
It felt so good being with Mitzi , Cvetka, Anton , Oma . And being with them in the mountains of Austria.
Beneath the Edelweiss is a historical novel
Don't get me wrong but I never expected to find such a gem in the free books of NetGalley.
No offense to anyone. Seriously I don't know why people aren't talking about this one
The book is really really good
It reminded me of Russian classics
( I need to go back and read them again )
That same kinda telling the stories of ordinary people, their ordinary lives and feeling the beauty in it
This book tells the story of Mitzi , a girl whose mother has died giving birth to her .
She is a dwarf . And how the world sees her . Her sister Maud who hates her for taking her mother away.
Her oma who loves her dearly.
Her dog Forest ( loved the name ) and her love for her home in mountains.
Then how her life shapes as she grows up, becomes a woman and meets other people.
The writing just flows like poetry.
Sorry , I know it may sound like I am praising too much , but I honestly loved this book .

This book was actually Godsend to me . I just grabbed when the saw the name and read the description.
Adi Shankaracharya , a name every hindu knows but few really few have read about him . Though each of us is indebted to him .
This book by @divyanarayanupadhya thankfully comes as that blessing .
Firstly let me say the author was very thorough in his research.
Not only has he read the books on Shankara but has visited Sringeri , to know more from Sringeri Sharadha Peetham .
And we as readers go with him to know more about Shankara , the story of Shankara.
So much remains unknown.
Now there's a twist
The author says the real story was told to him by Sureshvaraachaarya himself.
And so many times in the book he keeps thinking how will he explain this to the reader
Well a sceptic maynot believe but a devotee will .
Anyway as I was saying small small incidents like the birth of Shankara , then his father's death, he changing the route of the Saraswati river for his mother . Then the incident of the crocodile
Shankara taking sanyas
Shankara 's "digvijaya" . His visiting Kashi.
Later on his debates with Mandan Mishra and Ubhaya Bhaarati , I can go on and on
The whole life of Shankara, his thoughts, his philosophy and particularly the details of his verses the author has provided everything in this book .
The subtexts to make the reader understand the meanings of different Sanskrit words and also the context .No doubt so many have read this book .It's a really interesting book .
I thank the writer from the bottom of my heart.
A must read for every Hindu

Imagine a picture
White background
A black bench
A man can be seen sitting on it
Nothing else
It's called a minimalistic photo
A picture in monochrome with just 3 things
But still it speaks volumes
That's the exact description of the stories in this book named
"Things we never said ".
Very few words are said
( some stories are even half a page ) but still they say a lot
The idea of saying volumes just by uttering only a few words .
But trust me at the end of each story you will be bound to sit back and think a while .
Yes ,that's the impact this stories will have on you
Humans unnoticed ( as said in the acknowledgement) , emotions unspoken, feelings not expressed and words not said .
Probably the thinest book on the shelf this book is a collection of short stories that you will remember
The whole book can be finished within an hour or two but each of stories will make you think long after you close the last page
A must read for anyone who loves to read stories that speak to them

Who killed Lady Pippa? , it's easy to guess from the title itself that it's a mystery and it's historical.
Written in first person Katherine Lennox is a student in today's world but she can time travel to the nineteenth century. And there she solves mysteries with the help of Toby . And Toby is also her love interest . Well actually they're both in love with each other. The mystery part of the book is good with an quite unpredictable ending. The romance side well it's better than the mystery side 😃.
What I liked about this book is the historical part . Getting to know so much about the University of Oxford and it's adjacent area and society in the nineteenth century.
And most importantly meeting Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Yes , he is there present as an eye surgeon and written only just two short stories 😀
But I hated that he doesn't seem very smart 😕
Anyway if you love reading mystery books and also in the lookout for some historical fiction like me then this is the book for you. Go for it, I think you will like it.

Let me answer a question for anyone checking this book out
" who should be reading this book? "
" anyone who wants a little more money "
😂😂😂
Almost everyone, right ?
Well this is a book which will rewire your brain to align you , which in the end will help you remove the blockages you have in your brain ,that's stopping you from getting the money you deserve
This book is so logically talks to you that everyone will understand and agree that yes , we have these blockages in ourselves
Blockages created by parents, teachers, even it's in our DNA running through generations.
Even if we try our best by following best financial policies or joining those up to date finance programs our system is bound to crash as we are using an age old outdated operating system
Using the NLP tools we can break the blockages, understand and then create a mind which is ready to accumulate the wealth
And in the pages of this hides those secrets
Sounds good , right
Well read this book and trust me you will be amazed

🌾📚 PRAIRIE & PAGES with Kit Sergeant: Hattie Lewis Lawton

They barely noticed her. That was their first mistake.

Of all the women I researched for Underground, Hattie Lewis Lawton may be one of the most mysterious. 🕵️‍♀️

Even the details of her early life and her name are difficult to pin down. Hattie Lewis is believed to have been her real name, while Hattie Lawton was an alias she used during her work as a detective and spy.

Hattie was also believed to have been mixed-race and light-skinned enough to pass as white. During the Civil War, when race could determine where a person could travel, whom they could associate with, and whether they attracted suspicion, that ability would have given her access to places and people that might otherwise have been closed to her.

And Hattie knew how to disappear into a role.

She became one of the earliest female detectives associated with the Pinkerton National Detective Agency and eventually worked in Union intelligence during the Civil War.

Her most dangerous assignment took her behind Confederate lines with Union spy Timothy Webster, where the two posed as husband and wife while gathering intelligence in Richmond.

Their cover eventually collapsed.

Webster was captured and executed as a Union spy. Hattie was arrested and imprisoned before eventually being exchanged and returned to the North.

And then, remarkably, Hattie largely disappears from the historical record.

👩‍🏫 QUESTION OF THE DAY: What fictional character would you most like to sit down with and hear their entire story—from their point of view?

In this age of WhatsApp msgs ,texts and dms , a book that deals with letter writing.
A broken family and troubled days of teenage , Kayla is not a happy girl.
And to escape all of these she goes to Celestine Island to meet aunt Tilly. Tilly there lives alone and runs a paper house.
But this shop is no ordinary paper house . Here people come to write letters . Letters to someone they knew , someone who has left never to return , sometimes even to someone who has died . Some Letters have addresses and some just helped the writer to unburden themselves.
And Tilly helped in that .
To write what they couldn't say but wanted to .
A bittersweet novel which tells the story of Tilly and how she had changed everyone's life through letters.
